Terms & definitions
Answer these definitions using your own words. The definitions can be looked up if necessary, however copy-pasting is not allowed.

What do you define as roleplaying?

Answer - Roleplaying is playing a character or persona that is not your own. It is a story that you create, being a part in a chronicle that could span from being a farmer to being a grand wizard. It's creating a world, shaping it and making your own mark by interacting with other characters and ideas.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’

Answer - Powergaming is doing something that is not typically possible, or forcing another character into a situation by emoting for them, or doing impossible things to gain an upper hand. This is generally done with 'does 3 backflips and cuts your head off' type of ideas.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’

Answer - Metagaming is using OOC knowledge and information in RP. It's changing your character's behavior towards another character, or doing something that you wouldn't know out of character.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

Answer - A Mary Sue is a 'perfect' character, with no downsides or problematic qualities. Generally bland, they are uninteresting to any who aren't Mary Sue's themselves, as they lack substance and only serve to be NPC-like personas.

Answer - Johann Mercier

Answer - 34

Answer - Oserian

Story & Biography:

Answer - Hailing from the Duchy of Avendale, Johann was born into a family of farmers. When he was only six he began to till the fields under supervision from his father and uncle. His mother was a baker, as they farmed wheat for their mill, using the flour to bake breads and pies. She also had an interest in alchemy, an interest that Johann quickly became infatuated with outside of his farmhand work. Oftentimes after working a full day, the young man would read about the craft, trying to learn more day by day. He was raised in a highly religious household, his family grateful for their steady wealth and relative happiness.

Johann went to church every week with his family, even after founding a farm of his own with a brewery nearby his family. He was happy, even with his rough days in the field and the work that exhausted him so. Such happiness became sought after once his family was struck with misfortune- a fire, spreading far across the field which his father's house was built upon. The fire ravaged the house, leaving only his uncle and father alive, though taking his mother.

The loss of his mother struck the man with grief, as he quickly began to research ways to bring her back. He became even more infatuated with alchemy, looking for any signs of hope, though with no avail. With his own field mostly burnt down from the wanton fire, his money quickly faded, as did the health of his father. With nowhere left to go, Johann ventured off into the world, looking for work to help his dying father.

Open-ended questions
At least three must be answered. Delete the spares(if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each of the answered questions.

Question 1
You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Answer: Johann, stumbles at the sight he sees, quickly assessing the situation at hand.
"Oi!" He shouts, reaching for the dagger at his hip, raising the knife over his head.
Lining up the shot, the man rushes over towards the wounded lady as the robber quickly begins his escape.
Knife inhand, the Oserian tosses the dagger with a grunt, aiming for the back of the assailant, although his aim would not be true.
The blade slams into the wall, missing the robber as he escapes into the night, "Fuck," he curses under his breath.
Turning to the woman he quickly rummages through his pack, taking out what little rags and bandages he had.
Slipping out a small bottle of vodka, the man consoled the woman as he cleaned her wound, pouring the clear stinging liquid onto her wound.
Wrapping it in rags, he sighed, "Sorry about your bag, damn robbers everywhere."

Question 2
You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

Answer: Sighing, he sluggishly began to meander about the market, looking for any interesting wares or ingredients for alchemy.
Walking up to a food stand, he gives the shopkeep a nod. "How much for two loaves?" He points to some rather stale bread.
"Four kuras," the man grunts.
Johann hesitates, contemplating on his options, "Hmph... I'll buy it for two."
"Three," the shopkeep responds.
"Fine," he mutters, dropping three kuras onto the counter, grabbing his two loaves of bread.
On his way out a beggar walks up, asking Johann, "Aneh coin?"
Johann shakes his head, instead handing the poor man half a loaf of his bread, "Here," he dips his head, making his way towards the inn for a night's rest.

Question 3
You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Answer: Johann gives a quizzical look, inspecting the dish with skepticism, "Unpleasant?"
The old lady cackles, offering the rather grotesque meal forward.
"No thanks, I'm full," he shudders, now inching away from the woman as he looks around for exits.
She seems to grow angered, now raising her voice at Johann as he now begins to walk away.
"Sorry!" He shouts, now full on running from the woman, pack in tow.
