The application is made up of four sections and you must answer everything for it to be accepted.

The Tale of Banners Whitelist Application:

Section 1/4 - Out of Character Information

Minecraft Username(s):

Full UUID for your MineCraft account(s) (Found here):

What is your age?
(We need to know this as our server has an age restriction)

-Almost 16

Have you read the server rules? (Found here)

Do you agree with the server rules?

-I do.

How did you hear about Tale of Banners?

-I was scrolling through a list of fantasy minecraft servers, and thought this one was a good choice. I was drawn in by the lore and the seemingly simple start-up process.

Do you have any previous roleplay experience?
(Please give examples, no experience is acceptable)

-Very little structured experience, I wanted to get away from the cheap "roleplay" games found on the platform Roblox.

Additional Information: (If any)

Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions

Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

-Playing as either a set character or a custom one in different scenarios and seeing how to react.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

-Defining a move or emote and saying what happens to other people for them. It's a term for acts where characters do things that they realistically can't do.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

-Metagaming is using information from outside one's character to benefit themselves, such as information that a character wouldn't know, or using one's own knowledge to break character.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

-A character that is absolutely perfect and never has a weakness. Characters like this break the suspension of disbelief and make it harder for people to enjoy the situation.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

-The abbreviation 'OOC' means "Out of Character" and should be used to intentionally break character and ask an important question, or say something that pertains to real life or outside of the roleplay.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Provide us with an in-game screenshot of your character’s skin.

-Frederick Ketch

Can your character read and write?:

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

-Being born into a semi-wealthy merchant family living in the desert city of Telth, Frederick is often bored by the prospects of business and wishes he could carve his own path in life as an adventurer. After expressing this to his parents, he was quickly disowned by his family by being a threat to their wealth and comfort, common themes in Korsian culture. After all, they don't want what wealth they have to be squandered easily, forcing them to give up the merchant business and work in the mines. However, they didn't make a spectacle of it, not even legally filing the papers, as they don't want to anger the Crimson Guard or the harsh government. He was thrown out on the streets with no money and only the clothes on his back. However, he was far from being humbled, and still wanted to be an adventurer. After catching a ship out of the main city, he is now focused on making his way to a city that is more suited toward adventurers and people who have fallen in life. Frederick is snarky, somewhat rude, and cynical. While he usually puts effort into the things he enjoys, he's also not afraid to take the easy way out of a situation, if the opportunity presents itself. He is somewhat trained in basic self defense, but lacks skill when it comes to larger arms like swords and bows. However, he is eager to learn how to use a sword, as he deems it necessary in order to become a full-fledged adventurer. Furthermore, he also wants to learn to use a sword as a safety measure, as he is generally scared of non-human creatures and beings outside of his control.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

-...don't fancy yourself a fighter, and instead call for as much help as possible with both apprehending the threat and assisting the woman. Even if help does arrive, I choose to let the thief go and focus on saving the woman's life. I rush over and console the woman, while checking out her wounds to see if they're able to be healed. I try and tear pieces of her dress to bind her wounds and apply pressure. If she's able to stand, I walk her out into the streets and make sure she's able to reach a doctor or someone else that is more suited to medical practices.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

-I frequently spend my time alone, or asking around about where the best training grounds are to practice swordplay. Other than that, I don't communicate much for fear of talking my way into a promise I can't back out of. As time passes, I get bored and try to ask around for people my age to talk to. Eventually, I ask for a stall to eat at, as I have been travelling for quite awhile.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

- I promptly refuse, turning my nose up at the foul dish and mutter that it is better off as slop for a pig. Moreover, I nervously look around for something else to eat, fearing that I may have to eat that after all...

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

-Tell the soldier to take shelter, and inform him that he might as well join the dead soldier if he doesn't defend himself against the assault.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

-I hail the nearest villager and inform them that I am hungry and need shelter from the snowstorm. I also mention that I am nearly out of resources and can't survive without assistance much longer. If they refuse, I scoff at them and act like I didn't need the shelter after all. I walk away and make camp nearby, in sight of the village, to make sure that no one attacks or robs me.

You’re almost there! Your application is pending.

There are only a few things to change for a final decision.

Make the following edits to your application:

1. Your biography is a little short, but primarily doesn't implement any server lore and doesn't seek to integrate the character into the server. Also, be aware that you won't receive any money just because you say you are born into a wealthy family. Read here for more of the lore. (Official Canon Lore)

2. Your skin looks to be something from the 1800's. This is a medieval server.

3. Your questions provide decent detail in some areas, but are a little short. Try to focus on three good ones if it helps.

Once that is done, make a comment affirming you have made these changes and your application will be reviewed again as soon as possible.

Good luck!
