Okay, where should I start, I don’t remember much about my parents, My Mother was a Drahl from Crookmire and my Dad was a Korsian from who knows where. My mother told me she met my Dad while he was traveling through her hometown on his way to a larger city, and she, being desperate to get out joined him and eventually, they supposedly fell in love, They taught me some small things like how to read with books they planned on selling and my Sister, Kalahkai would mock me if I misspoke or stuttered, we weren't close but i think she had cared for me in that ‘i wish you weren't around me but I'd be sad if you were gone’ way.

We had gotten stuck in a snowstorm in the north on our way to some city, I remember my Mother disliked going through that land during the time of year but Dad insisted on it. They had gone off to try and find help or shelter and left my Sister to watch over me, We waited for hours and the storm hadn't lightened up so Kalahkai went off to search for them and left me there alone. I was a stubborn child, something I must have picked up from my mother, so I waited for a little then followed after her, following her footprints.

That image is still burned into my mind, Kalahkai looking back at me hearing my scream, with tears and fear in her eyes, and my parents lying there dead with blood pooling around them. They had gone into a cold-snap spider’s hideaway for shelter and couldn't make it out in time, and the spiders were still angry. Kalahkai screamed at me to run and the next moments were a blur, I ran and ran, crying, until I had fallen onto my knees and threw up into the snow, I was freezing and knew I had to find a village or something. It felt like days of walking, replaying the scene over and over in my head and I’d finally found some piece of civilization, a small village that couldn't have had more than 20 buildings.

I walked up to the largest building, a two-story inn with a man lying on the small patio, filthy and reeking of booze, I crept around him and went inside to find a tall, old, and grumpy looking man. I was so grateful for the warmth and begged him to let me stay, and he told me to scram but I pleaded and maybe it was my puffy eyes, the frozen tears on my face that were melting due to the fire nearby, or the desperation in my voice, but he let me stay if I helped around the building, He was a mean old bastard but he helped save my life.

Living in the town I had gotten to be friends with some of the other kids and I also met a seer of the Way of The Five who taught me about the religion, and when I turned 15, I was initiated into it and I still have the scar to prove, and they also tattooed a dark blue mark on my forearm to show which clan I was brought into by and it hurt like a bitch too.

That old town no longer stands. Before the great blizzard hit I’d left to go to Crookmire to find anything about my mother and her family, but the only thing I found was thieves and filth and I learned while I was gone that a catastrophic blizzard had covered the north and that some escaped to Dunsgate so I went there as fast as I could, and the only person I found familiar was a young woman named Helmi who was around my age, she used to bring butter cookies to the inn in thanks for help around her old house and we somewhat became friends, she told me the town was destroyed, and I didn't know what to do, the second time my family had been taken from me and I was alone again.

I decided to travel around Esna, I thought I could help people and I tried in certain places, but I still don't know what I'm going to do.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewelry on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

  • From the run-down tavern filled with drunks, Duhalah stumbled out into the dark night, smelling of cheap Oserian beer and was startled by the noise of a figure rushing out of an alleyway between the tavern and another building and didn't think much of it until she heard a painful moan from inside the tight space. Peeking around she saw a wounded figure laying on the floor and she yelled out as loud as she could, “GUARDS!” then tried to move over to them, leaning on the wall so she did not topple over as well. She finally reached her and tried to think through the haze over her mind of the things her mother taught about healing, and tried to apply pressure to the woman's wound and keep the bleeding down, again she screamed out “HELP” and after a moment, two armored men ran around the corner and Duhalah managed to communicate to them what had happened through drunken slurring and they took the wounded woman away. Feeling exhausted, she went back to her inn room and turned in for the night, with the hope that the woman would be okay in the back of her mind, but quickly being overtaken by the sweet escape of sleep

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

  • The blazing hot desert sun glared down on the sand and all of the poor people with bad enough luck to be on it. Duhalah trekked through the blowing sand, her skin becoming pink from sunburn, and sweating like a pig with a large pack strapped to her back, filled with northerner objects and trinkets, she sighed with relief then let out a “Huh” as she approached the almost market that had surrounded the large, grand gate. She walked up to the two tall, tan-skinned men in armor on either side of it, and holding weapons, she asked “What's going on here?”, and the man on the left replied “No one is allowed into the city young lady, There've been too many travelers and we don't want to flood it.” and Duhalah proceeded to look up at them with annoyance and frustration and said with the tone of someone ready to choke the taller man out “I've traveled for a day through this hellish desert and you're going to tell me that I can't enter Telth?! It’s a city, it's not going to burst because some extra people enter!” and the man looked down at her and returned, “I'm just following orders little miss, and a lot of them have gone through the same journey as you, so please go and wait along with them.”. Duhalah grunted at them and begrudgingly walked over to the makeshift camp filled with travelers and after a few moments of cooling off mentally, she had the idea to just set up next to the other carts, setting out a large blanket with northerner designs sewn into it in the shade of another cart, and placed some of her items on it “Might as well make some money while I wait.” and waited till she could enter.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

  • Night had fallen on the murky swamp of crookmire, and Duhalah had been hiking through the calf-high, green muck for hours when she came across a village with houses on high stilts. Her stomach was aching from emptiness and she felt like she was covered in a thick layer of grime from her previous times of tripping over concealed roots and falling face-first into the mud and water, she searched for half an hour till she met a small, old drahl woman with pale skin, long, neat grey hair and pitch-black eyes that seemed as if they could stare into your soul. “Excuse me? Do you know anywhere I could stay for the night and get some food?” the old woman laughed and replied in a sweet voice “Oh dearie, There has not been a place to stay here for outsiders in ages, but I can offer you a meal.” and smiled for a moment before she climbed up the short ladder into her home and returned with a bowl filled with something that looked as if it was from the sea and sat in a greenish-grey broth, Duhalah couldn't be totally sure she didn't see it move for a moment. “You can take this, but know that it doesn't settle right with some.” The woman said, while holding the bowl out to her and followed up with “You can have it for (REDACTED).”, Duha was desperate at that point so she took out (REDACTED) and handed it to the woman, wished her a nice day and took off to find some semblance of shelter she could take, and she decided to just rest under a raised house that had black sheets covering the gap, hiding her for the time being. Duha shuddered when she swallowed the slimy, what she could only assume was a tentacle of some sort and it didn't taste half bad, she finished the bowl and laid out her backpack to lay her head on but during the night, she was overtaken by crippling stomach pains that had kept her up till morning.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

Very nice concise definitions. I would recommend Drahl or Korsian for your character, but northerner works. Your appearance definitely leans into the Drahl Crookmire. Excellent bio btw, very enjoyable.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
