- Geitz was born into a merchant family that heavily invested into the young child's education. Smart and full of wit, Geitz was known as a bit of a smart ass to his tutors and parents as he seized upon the chance to learn that his family provided. In many ways, it was a good of a situation as anyone with an inquisitive mind such as his could be put into. However, as merchants, his family moved about often and he hardly found himself in the same place for long. That was, until, his family settled in the Emirate of Kharman. While the family made plenty of money upon arriving due to the distance they had traveled and the goods they had brought, they were undoubtedly viewed as outsiders in the city. This led to a somewhat boring and lonely life for the good natured Geitz, as while he finally had a home, it was a home that seemed to wish he wasn't there at all.
When he was finally of age, Geitz left to travel on his own. His family gave his a fair sum of money for this endeavor, but over time before it was beginning to dwindle. Being well traveled, pleasant in nature, and personable he was able to go far without much trouble, when his curious nature didn't cause problems, that is. However, broke and unsure where to go next in his studies, Geitz finds himself at a crossroad of many paths and options...
Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.
Question 1
You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...
- Pause, unsure what to do. After a brief moment that seemed like forever, I run away with tears in my eyes and a guilty conscious, unsure of what really happened after I had left. That night I would cower in my bed, suppressing my instinct to bawl in the dark. I know I did the wrong thing, but what was I supposed to do? Fight that man? He had a weapon! I would've been gutted like that poor woman, oh... I should've helped her, I suppose, but what if it was a trap the whole time? I couldn't risk it! After all, I have my life to worry about, and the guard is supposed to worry about those sorts of things. It's not /my/ fault they can't protect anyone in this damn city! And... And maybe she was ok, who knows? It's not like I'm the only one around. She was loud! Someone had to have heard her... Maybe I'll check again in the morning, if it's safe, anyway.
Question 2
You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?
- With a watchful eye on my good, I make a small camp in a spot as away from the others as I can manage. I'd otherwise keep to myself, eating and drinking when I need to, but always keeping an eye on my things. It's hardly worth risking a loss when I've got good things to sell in the city! While the other refugees and travelers eye me suspiciously during my wait, I hardly pay them any attention. They're below me. Peasants. Useless swine. I've got goods to sell! I'm above any of their envy. So I wait, wait, wait, until I finally am called to the gate and let through, as I should have been at the very start of all this.
Question 3
You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...
- I gobble up the meal, unconcerned with the warning whatsoever. To be honest, it's not a clean meal. I made a mess, and I wasn't even ashamed of it. I was starving for that goop. It was goopy, sure, and not any bit tasty, but a hungry stomach makes for questionable choices, as my grandmother always said. Plus, it was cheap, not the least bit expens- Oh, god. I feel it. It's in my stomach. What? What's that? It hurts! Oh, god, please, get it out, it hurts. This isn't what I paid for! Ah, god, it's growing, it's painful, oh no please, no, not that, anything but-
