Minecraft name:

Character name:
Genviève Katell Clements the First

Character history:
The Clements family is one born of cruelty, a name that soaks in the blood of great men and commoners alike. A dynasty born amid the conflict of the Oserian Peasant Revolt of 510 A.T through the amaranthine ambition of one Godfrey Clements. The Clements often felt as though the world was conspiring against them, and so a familial culture of unity through this crucible was fostered. Though Godfrey's children were many, they seemed to all inherit his iron-fisted cruelty. Genviève is no exception to this trend, nor does she harbor any desire to be. Born in the year 975 A.T, Genviève was amongst the first children of her parents. She received much parental love and an unprecedented degree of freedom for a young woman of her status. Her parents decided against an arranged marriage, ultimately having Genviève's education not to be focused on being a good wife nor mother, rather, to be a learned enigma who could help her brothers with the running of the estate. With her parents' focus on building an understanding of intrigue and a strong rapport between Genviève and her siblings, it became cemented to Genviève that the most important thing in the world was her family.

Godfrey built his throne in the shadows and established his power through the web of courtroom politics. Genviève was made to idolize these achievements and the methods through which they were earned. While her brothers learned the ways of the steel sword and silver tongue, Genviève was made the ward of Spymasters and stewards. Throughout her young adult years, Genviève was made familiar with the written word, as well as how the pen can be used for the lesser-known techniques for acquiring power.

Of course, there are times when a well-placed cloak and dagger can get far more finished. After all, the quickest way to a man's heart is through his fourth and fifth ribs.

Coming of age in Dunsgate can be quite a difficult experience, even for those of a noble upbringing. Such a city's political plotting can often make The Great Death take the rear of one's mental carriage. Genviève is an exception to this trend, and she has pride in this fact. As an understudy to Spymaster Godric MicTere, Genviève was often made an integral part of investigations, plots, and the occasional homicide. Genviève learned through doing in many cases and has since become a delicate schemer, the likes of which would make Godfrey proud. Able to slip in and out of various personalities and characters, Genviève set her small circles in Dunsgate ablaze, sewing chaos and reaping political gain everywhere she went. Genviève is a product of her family. An object, through which goals are to be achieved.

To Genviève, a spymaster does not work for personal gain. A steward does not soil their honor by taking the state's taxes for their own pocket. She works to make her brother king, to establish the Clements as successors to long-lost kingdoms, and quite possibly, the empire. To Genviève the most important thing in the world is her family, and all other things--including herself--are meaningless. Genviève is a tool to her family. A force of nature, with no will of her own.

Characters personal strengths and weaknesses:
Genviève is weak, put simply. Standing at five feet nine inches (1.75 meters) with only one hundred and twenty pounds to her bone, her thin, lanky build leaves Genviève without much advantage in almost any fight. Genviève, for this reason, cannot expect to do most anything head-on. That said, a well-made plan can make anyone punch above their weight. What Genviève lacks in physical capability, she directly makes up for in creative thinking and problem-solving. With an almost academic understanding of intrigue and the many mediums by which it can be carried, if Genviève does end up in a face-to-face fight, then something has gone horribly wrong. Her trust in this creative plan-making can come back around to harm her, however. Genviève very rarely has to stray from a path she's laid in her mind, and when something doesn't follow the script, she may find great difficulty in improvising. Given enough time Genviève might synthesize a new plan, yet time is often a luxury that cannot be found.

  • Experience in the art of being a Spymaster
  • Clever, creative solutions to difficult political problems
  • Uses her literacy to learn anatomy, and has an understanding of poisonous herbs
  • Fairly proficient with a dagger
  • Has a strong sense of familial importance and diligence, and is able to put aside mental reservations should something "need" being done
  • Can act as a competent practitioner of Stewardship
  • Fairly proficient with manipulation, deception, and acting
  • Possesses little raw strength or dexterity, can often be stopped if there is a physical challenge in her path
  • Lacks any experience with improvisation
  • Often puts too much faith in her plans, pride and hubris can lead to her being inflexible to things she sees as not threatening
  • Will most certainly lose a 1-to-1 fight on an even playing field
  • Has little understanding of the moral compass. Though she can often guess someone's steps before they are to take it, she bases these on logical motivators and can be blindsided by the pull that emotions and beliefs have on people. Though she can play to someone's beliefs for manipulation, her understanding of how people act in a crisis (though not always incorrect) is often poor
  • Puts her family members above everything, including herself. Genviève is about as free-willed as a statue, whose purpose is decided by the sculptor.
  • She is liable to bend her own codes of honor. An untrustworthy person is often alone in the end

What tier of intrigue are you hoping to achieve for your character, and why does your character deserve that tier?
Please list each tier and a short explanation of why you feel your character has developed some of the attributes found within the tiers.
Scoundrel (Tier 1)
Genviève is no stranger to the black market. Even when one is a noble, it is often unwise to be caught with poisons and illegal wares. Though she's never lead a smuggling party, she has participated in the act and would be more than capable of putting together a group to carry out such a crime again.
Pickpocketing is not something Genviève is interested in, although Spymasters are expected to at least be able to do such when necessary.

Criminal (Tier 2)
Though Genviève is more likely to hire someone for this sort of dirty work, incapacitating, assaulting, and even mugging targets or guards can be an easy way through the most stubborn obstacle.
Burglary, in short, is the name of the game for a Spymaster. Breaking and entering to a target's home, finding damning evidence, and taking a few trinkets along with it is quite possibly an elementary task for those who have gone through the same training as Genviève.
Genviève was never one for the seas, so piracy is unlikely to occur.

Deviant (Tier 3)
What better place to beat information out from someone than your own dungeon? It's not that easy to get people, here, of course. After all, what is Genviève going to do? Offer a picnic in a cell to her target? I thought not. Kidnapping, though uncommon for her due to its severity, is only another thing she is willing to do and capable of doing.
Genviève, although a staunch monarchist, isn't really one for slavery. They give very little to the economy!
There is no action that more perfectly summarizes the role of a hostile Spymaster than that of Inciting Disorder. There is no doubt that Genviève is not only trained in this method, but that she is masterful in it as well.

In what way do you believe you can contribute to the server’s roleplay by getting an accepted Intrigue application?
As I am a member of the Lore Team and possess a character with the personality and history of Genviève, it only feels right for Genviève to be used as an instigator in the stories and arcs of the world of Esna. A person with ties to one of the most important families in Oseria, as well as one being played by a staff member whose focus is towards creating an enjoyable story for other players, gives rise to an interesting set of possibilities. I can contribute to the server's roleplay by acting as a narrative conduit for the event team and admins, designing intricate scenarios for other players to navigate, and establishing a story that can stand the test of time.

Do you understand that villainous roleplay on the server is taken very seriously, as it comes with a lot of power? And do you understand that doing things your character is not allowed to do may lead to you getting blacklisted from making further villainous characters?
I am intimately aware of the importance of ensuring that "villain" characters are roleplayed well, and that having an intrigue-accepted character shiftd a player's priority from improving one's own experience to building a narrative for other players and other characters to develop through and enjoy. I understand that my character is limited from certain actions that can result in my blacklisting, and I understand the impact such actions can have on the experiences of other players. I want nothing more than to treat myself and others with professionalism, seriousness, and respect. I understand that this is important on the server.

Do you also agree to your villainous character permanently dying if killed through roleplay?
I would not want it any other way.
