Amund Gunderson

Can your character read and write?:

Amund is unable to write and struggles to read complicated text.

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

Amund was born the youngest child into the Gunderson family, a year younger than his brother Torygg. A cocksure and boisterous character, he spent his early years dreaming of adventure, exploring the nearby woods and hills of his home when not assisting with household chores. Amund looked up to his older brothers, however he felt a need to prove himself due to their own natural talents in hunting and smithing. He would frequently challenge the other children in the clan to fights in a bid to prove his strength like the Gundersons of old, often being beaten. Despite this, his ambition was never suppressed and he continued to show fervour towards learning the arts of combat. Amund would regularly practice the martial arts with the more experienced clan members as he grew up, becoming proficient in an array of weaponry. He would, however, come to favour the sword over all. After the death of his father, a distraught 19 year old Amund set out alongside his brother Torvald to venture the world. Through the guidance of the spirits, he came to terms with the death of his father and now strives toward his goal of becoming an expert in swordplay, that goal still being a long way off.

Amund is confident, high spirited, and goodhearted in nature, and will not hesitate to assist a person in need. He is 6' 8" in height and is ginger in hair. He is lean and strong due to his time spent training and travelling, with a pale complexion and a relatively neatly trimmed beard. Despite showing aptitude at combat and strategy, he struggles with reading and writing, and can at times be hasty when making decisions. Additionally, he is somewhat quick to anger and is not one to relenquish a grudge easily. Having spent the past 2 years travelling the lands, he has been tempered by the hardships of living life on the trail and in the process formed a close bond with his brother. During these travels he furthered his knowledge of the martial arts, seeking out tutors to increase his knowledge on strategy and swordplay.

Amund now seeks a place for himself and his brother to call home after two long years of travelling, as he misses the companionship and safety provided by a real community.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Amund would run into the bar and shout for help before dashing into the alleyway in a bid to render assisstance to the bleeding woman. He would attempt to staunch the bleeding but would not know how to help much further, having not had many experiences in supplying first aid. He would then provide information to the relevant authorities on the matter.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

Amund would be wary of the enemy soldier, and would be concious of the approaching enemy. He would not offer assistance and would be somewhat suspicious of the cloth but would make no move towards the soldier, feeling pity for him and his dead comrade. Having little time for a scuffle with the threat of the advancing soldiers, Amund would move on and leave the soldiers to their fate.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Knowing that without supplies his chances would be slim, Amund would approach the village and try appealing to the residents for help, offering what items of worth he had in compensation. He would try to find common ground with the residents being a northener himself, in a bid to gain their trust. He would then seek shelter to wait out the storm, keeping an eye out for any taverns in which he could enjoy a meal and a tankard of northern ale.
