Horses of Esna

The horse is one of the most diverse species when it comes to size, weight, color and breed. Horses have been domesticated by humans for centuries and are used as beasts of burden, ridden for a faster method of travel, and sometimes even raced for entertainment. Their colors and markings are extremely diverse to the point where no two horses bear the same set of colors and marks. Horses have been selectively bred to create the most ideal stead for whatever task is needed. It takes almost a complete year for a horse to birth a single foal and in very rare cases twins are born. Speed of travel is dependent on the horse breed but an average trot travels about five miles per hour and an average gallop travels approximately 25 miles per hour. Despite the domestication, these beasts are very intelligent and can follow basic commands if trained well. With the right balance of positive and negative reinforcement a horse can be a long lasting companion. Horses can also be found roaming in the wilds all across the continent. These horses are more wild and much harder to bend to the will of man. These horses require constant breaking and bonding for even a chance at taming.
