Not sure of how I originally heard of TofB, but it was a few years ago and it popped into my head recently when wanting to get involved in RP again.

Do you have any previous roleplay experience?
(Please give examples, no experience is acceptable)

The Kingdoms MC, a Minecraft fantasy/medieval-themed roleplay server discontinued in 2018; I was involved from 2015-2018ish.

Additional Information: (If any)

Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?
I see roleplaying as simply acting as anything other than oneself. It is therefore necessary to disconnect one's own self from their character in a roleplay... thinking about what the character would do rather than what they would do.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:
Powergaming occurs when your character does certain actions or possesses certain traits when there is no in-character/in-universe/realistic justification, done for the advantage of the character without regard for the limitations of the roleplay or universe, and/or without regard for other characters.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:
Metagaming occurs when your character possesses and/or utilizes information not justifiably known by the character. e.g. if I find out someone stole my horse OOC, and I log in to get revenge on the thief. My character does not know that my horse was stolen by that person.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?
A character without weakness/flaw -- the characterization of powergaming.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?
OOC stands for out-of-character. It should be used when someone is simply out of character, not roleplaying.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Provide us with an in-game screenshot of your character’s skin.

Can your character read and write?:

Story & Biography
A caravan led Soren's Korsian merchant-scholar mother, Aisha, up to the North, where she met his father. Soren was conceived out of wedlock, with his father leaving Aisha shortly after his birth. Aisha, having left her party to be with his father, later resolved to stay in the North to raise Soren alone. He was given a Northern name at the behest of his absentee father. Mother Aisha maintained that, alongside his outside education, he would be consistently homeschooled by her. Therefore, among Soren's obligatory pastimes would be listening to mother Aisha's ethical and political lectures and occasionally winning against his mother in board games. His darker complexion, combined with a mixed Korsian-Northern accent drew his peers to tease him as a child, developing within him a superiority complex as a coping mechanism for his insecurities.

The views with which mother Aisha instilled (one could say indoctrinated) in him worked in tandem with his superiority complex to create in him resentment for those who disagreed with him on the simplest of issues, but compounded into vehement hatred for those who challenged him on more fundamental issues of the fringe Korsian ethical and political philosophy he inherited. He was, no doubt, knowledgeable and reasonable, but his biases and superficial feelings of grandiosity tainted his early adulthood with interpersonal and intrapersonal conflict -- conflict which he always sparked.

Mother Aisha unexpectedly passed when Soren was 21, plunging him into a prolonged state of depression and deep introspection. Inheriting a significant amount of wealth and possessions from his mother, Soren travelled abroad in hopes of finding new people and new purpose in life, pawning off much of his inheritance to continue his travels, but also reselling commodities to make a quick buck.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

Having spent several minutes bargaining then arguing with the city guards, Soren flew his hands up in frustration, turning around towards the refugee camp. Soren thought, "These poor souls. See, if I had been let in, perhaps the profit from the sale of the tusks could afford even an entire month's food and shelter for these people." He cursed the guards. As Soren approached the camp, the scent of unwashed body odour gave him a slight flinch, causing him to scrunch his face in disgust and turn away, heading instead towards a nearby boulder to finish reading a Korsian treatise on poverty.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Soren hands her some coins before leaving. Seafood isn't his taste, so he resolves to sleep on an empty stomach. "Apologies, but I'm... not that hungry," Soren replies to the old woman.

Question 5
You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Soren strolls into the village, whilst donning his Korsian garb. As the locals eye him with suspicion, he stares back at them for what seems like an eternity, his heart beating rapidly in both anxiousness and frustration, before opening his mouth: "What's wrong? I was born here! I'm one of you!" He's relatively pleased with how confidently he was able to deliver that. Unused to confrontation, the locals turn away.
