Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

  • Well it’s pretty simple. If you’re role playing you’re assuming a role and acting as that role or person much like you would if you were acting. You’re playing a part or character that isn’t yourself.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

  • Using their position or perhaps just their emotes/combat to abuse another player and potentially kill them Ex: /me slits your characters throat “no nothing”

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

  • Using ooc or outside knowledge to your advantage in character.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

  • a character that has all sorts of power and abilities but has done nothing if not little to gain them. And one that can solve any problem they come across with no repercussions

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

  • Out of character. It should be used when speaking out of character which is pretty simple to understand.

Can your character read and write?:

  • Yes he has learned to read and write.

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this!

  • Clan Ravenwood was a well known yet small clan in the north. They were known to be great warriors and fierce protectors of their tribe and land which they owned outside of Valdarr. Calder Ravenwood decided his family and his people needed a bigger purpose. That they could learn more from the other cultures and their land and that they could bring that to their people. Calder was of the northern summit tribes whilst his wife was from the melting lands. Their children displayed many similarities between them but none so much as Ragnar, the middle child. While strong and ruthless, Ragnar was also quite clever and ambitious, curious to a fault. This he gained from his mothers melting lands attributes. Calder led his family away from the north and down towards the other lands. While traveling, the family and some of their lose friends and followers were ambushed by Drahl bandits. Ragnar managed to fight off some of the bandits but was gravely injured and barely managed to escape with his life. As Ragnar lay near a stream drawing closer to his last breath he was found by traveling Korsians who nursed him back to health and taught him things. As he got older he served as their guard before leaving to strike out on his own. Becoming an effective and sought after mercenary due to his known heritage and battle skill, but he always sought more plagued by his thirst for knowledge. Ragnar lived in exile because of his failure to protect his family, hoping one day to go back north and share his knowledge with his people but until that day came he lived off the land and traveled learning as much as he could. Ragnar himself is a very ambitious and ruthless individual with a large degree of charm and cunning yet can fall victim to hubris and getting too ahead of himself.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

  • Rush to the Woman’s aid albeit clumsily due to the drink. Although somewhat sobered now I’d help the woman to safety before helping track down the thief and hopefully bring justice. As I travel with perhaps guards or other citizens I’d keep on the look out for the thief and ask questions if anyone strange had passed by.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

  • I go around the stalls conversing with the different peoples and cultures there talking about a wide variety of things until I can gain entry to the place. I also might occasionally shop and trade with the stalls there. This is to learn more about these people and their ways to fuel my thirst for knowledge and curiosity as well as to strengthen anything when I return to the North. While I’m waiting I might also look for potential travel companions that know about the city or can help me.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

  • Accept the food but continue looking. This will be a last resort meal that I may not even eat because I am wary of strangers and old crones. As I explore I might try to hunt or forage being wary of potential creatures or bandits that might want to cause me harm all the while exploring the area and seeing what it might have in store for me.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

  • I look at the soldier with regret and hesitation thinking about him and who this other soldier was to him. We’re they friends? Brothers? Maybe forbidden lovers? I couldn’t know for sure and I didn’t have the time to ask but I knew that whoever this dead soldier was, the other would live a painful live. I end his suffering and kill him so that he might see his friend. I take the time to take a memento from both of the dead. I’d remember this for a long time but this is the way of war. I then retreat back to the rest of my army and wait for the enemy advance prepared to take down as many as I need to to protect my life and the life of the soldiers with me.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

  • As I am a northerner they should take me in well enough I would hope seeing as I would be one of their own but should I find they are still wary I would attempt to maybe barter or trade with them as well as offer services in return for shelter and supplies which could be helping them find things to burn for a fire or hunting or maybe even protection from potential bandits that have grouped up to find places like this one. If they still did not trust me then I may have to continue walking this wasteland unknown to me what I may find or see. But I know the spirits will guide and watch over me and I will be safe.

You’re almost there! Your application is pending.

There are only a few things to change for a final decision.

Make the following edits to your application:

1. The only issue with your application is the answers you made to the questions are quite short. Imagine these as roleplay scenarios. Emote and talk as if you were there.

Once that is done, make a comment affirming you have made these changes and your application will be reviewed again as soon as possible.

Good luck!

I’d seen other applicants that didn’t make long answers but I suppose I can edit them if that’s all.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

Good questions! Great backstory.

The armor on your skin will not be used for combat as per rp rule 2. You will have to get an actual set of armor in game. I would recommend having two skins, one with armor and one without, but that is up to you.

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the rope
