Name:
Answer - Gareth Aldkarl
Age:
Answer - 20
Culture:
Answer - Northern (Flintfolk)
Story & Biography:
Answer - Gareth's father was a wealthy Oserian trader staying in Flintwood for the winter before moving his ships south again. His mother, Galera, was a commoner from the Midlands working as a barmaid. The two met at a shipyard inn in the Flintwood, and Gareth was conceived on that very night. Gareth's father left a few months later for Oseria, leaving Galera with a large some of money and a promise to return soon to raise their child. Months faded to years, and Gareth's father never returned.
As soon as a young Gareth could walk, he was put to work. He worked with his mother for a while as a bar-hand, taking jobs at the docks every so often when money was tight. His mother was stringent with money, as if desperately hanging on to the gift she had received from Gareth's father a number of years ago. Although never rich, Gareth lived comfortably enough for the majority of his life. Living well, Gareth had time to dream. He had a longing to explore the world beyond Flintwood. He would watch ships sail in and out of the shipyard, playing with the idea of stowing away on one and seeing where it would take him. He listened to his mother's stories, and read books about Oseria and the Kharman Expanse. He met many people through his work at the inn, and learned what he could of the world from them. Stories of great battles and heroes always excited him the most, so he enlisted in his Jarl's levy when he turned eighteen.
Gareth served as a levy for a year before returning to his mother. Things were calm, and the most action he saw as a soldier was the occasional highwayman or thief, but he felt tensions begin to stir upon his arrival home. The prophecy of High King Jorrvin Longwinter's High Seer was drawing closer, and Gareth saw as many Northerners fled south for the fear of some disaster. The year 1000 was mere months away, but Gareth was unsure how to proceed. One night in a dream, however, Gareth saw his mother covered in snow and blood, dead on the cold ground. He decided it was best if they pack up and flee south as well, but Galera refused to leave her home. She still awaited Gareth's father, whose 19 year old promise still resonated within her. Gareth pleaded with her to come to no avail. With little options left, Gareth promised to seek out his father, and return with him to Flintswood. He journeyed south, searching tirelessly until it was too late, and news of the blizzard reached his ears. He decided to wait in Dunsgate in hopes that he may reunite with his mother fleeing the cold.

Open-ended questions
At least three must be answered. Delete the spares(if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each of the answered questions.
Question 1
You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewelry on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...
Answer: Gareth, doing his best to snap out of his drunken state, leaves the criminal to run and rushes towards the woman in the alleyway. Using spare cloth ripped from his shirt, he does his best to fashion the wound as he learned from his time as a soldier. "Help." He calls out towards the street. "Someone's been stabbed". His hands begin to tremble as he finishes wrapping the woman's wound. He nervously goes to pick her up, stumbling from the drink but managing to retain his balance. He carries her out into the street, looking around frantically for anyone to help him. "Fuck", He curses under his breath as a wave of indecision washes over him. He carries her down the street, hoping someone will be around to save this poor woman.
Question 2
You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?
Answer: Gareth walks around the camp, visiting all the stalls and talking to vendors and refugees alike. He listens in awe to the stories they tell and to their reasons for coming to Telth. Gareth is not overly talkative, but asks a lot of questions, some that might turn his new acquaintances away. He enjoys meeting everyone and learning their story because he hopes that one day he can have great stories of his own adventures to tell others.
Question 3
You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...
Answer: Gareth questions the crone on the food's origins and preparation while going in without a second thought for his first bite. The taste is very unpleasant to Gareth. He tries his best to conceal a look of disgust, though its clear he his uncomfortable, as he continues to eat while talking with the crone. As the crone talks, Gareth's stomach begins to groan loudly. "Would you excuse me for a moment?" He says between gags. He drops the food, sprinting off behind the nearest tree before puking on the bark.
Question 4
In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name is despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…
Answer: He glares down at the soldier, his weapon poised to strike. He raises his sword to end the man's life, but pauses, lowering his weapon and deciding against it. Gareth leaves the soldier heading back towards allied lines, shooting a pained glance back to the defeated man every so often. Gareth knows that that man may be able to fight again once the enemy forces reach him, but he convinces himself that it would have been dishonorable to kill a man in that state. He rejoins his allies and prepares to face the approaching enemy force.
