Additional Information: (If any)

-
Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?
Roleplaying to me as if you are acting out a character in a given environment and in changing situations. You act out this character in accordance with his or her traits, backstory, and personality. E.g. If I am accepted on this server I will be roleplaying my character in the world of Esna.

-

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:
Powergaming is giving your character an unrealistic (and usually unfair) advantage. For example, dodging 100 arrows shot at you is not physically possible and if you RP like this you are obviously powergaming. Or having superpowers that magically bring you back to life or insta-heal you. It's somewhat like giving your character god-like abilities.
-

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:
Metagaming is using OOC information IC. It's pretty straight forward but if someone messages on discord they are travelling to said city, you cannot use that information in character to go bandit them on their journey.

-

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?
A character with no flaws, they may have no weaknesses or flaws when they RP. They basically make roleplay unfair and not fun at all.

-

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?
OOC stands of "Out of Character", this should be used in general chats or anything that is not in a RP post or server RP. For example, discord is OOC, you cannot use the information in it or it'd be metagaming. You should only use OOC when you wish to talk to someone out of character and don't want it to be considered in character being said.

-
Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Provide us with an in-game screenshot of your character’s skin.

Name: Uthrid Magnhildson

-

Age: 20

-

Culture: Northerner

-

Can your character read and write?: Yes, to a degree. Do not expect him to know much fancy words and to enjoy reading literature or poetry. He knows the basics and that is enough for his standards.

-

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

Uthrid was born into the family of Magnhild, a family which is renowned for it's lineage of formidable warriors, in the Jarldom of The Melting Lands. His father, Straeker was a infamous warrior throughout the Northern lands while his mother, Frida, was a local teacher in the small village they lived in. The large family lived in impoverished conditions in a small little village house, though it was more of a hut. Uthrid was the eldest of many brothers and sisters and for that was given more attention from both of his parents. His father, from a young age, taught him how to fight and wield weapons such as a bow, axe, and sword while his mother taught him the basics of reading, writing, and told him stories of great kings and warriors of the North. Though Uthrid did not care much for the studies of the book, and instead spent most of his time polishing his combat skills. In Uthrid's freetime his hobby was hunting with his brothers and father, in which they'd hunt big game such as elk, bears, and occasionally wolf. The pelts and hides from the game they'd hunt would be sold in the local market. A family tradition with his brothers after a successful hunt would be to go to the local tavern and spend the left-over profit from the sold pelts on drinks, just to have a fun time. These prosperous times would soon be coming to an end for the Magnhild family.

The raids of the Grulk on the region had become more and more scare, though fate would not shine on the Magnhild family. On a cold night, the Grulk would raid the small village that the Magnhild family lived in, a night that Uthrid would never forget. His father barracaded the door for their small house and armed himself and Uthrid, who was hid away in a small hidden storage to protect his brothers and sisters. The next few moments, which felt like hours, were accompanied only by the screams of the villagers who were being brutally massacred. Soon after, banging would be heard from their barricaded door in attempt to ransack the house. When the door finally gave out and the few of the Drahls stormed the entrance but were caught off-guard when Uthrid's father charged into them, beheading one with a clean swing of his axe and then burying his axe deep into the torso of the next. Uthrid would continue to watch his father through the crevices of his hiding spot who was putting up his own fight against the raiders, but was soon to be overwhelmed as reinforcements came to fight Straeker. Uthrid would watch as his father was brutally cut down by the Grulk, and his mother too slain while attempting to help his wounded father. Uthrid was enraged by the killing of his mother and father, and when most of the Grulks had left his little shed, he rushed out of his hiding spot and quickly despose of the few surprised stranglers who had stayed behind to loot his home. Though his bloodlust did not end there, out of pure hate and vengence for the killing of his parents, he continued to hack down Grulks who he could easily pick off while they were retreating from the town. In his memory he would never forget the banner of the raiders that attacked his village. The raid left Uthrid motherless and fatherless, and put himself in charge of protecting and providing for his many brothers and sisters. He would swear vengence on the group that conducted this raid, as well as developed a minor condition of ASPD due to the scarring of this tramatic event.

Uthrid would spend the next few scavaging to scrap the barrel to provide for his brothers and sisters, usually relying on his hunting skills and sometimes even to crime. Times were tough for the Magnhild family, and the glories of their family were long gone. He would continue to provide for his family until they became of age to become independent. When this happened, Uthrid and a few of his brothers went off on a personal adventure of vengence, to claim the head of the leader who ordered the raid. On this long journey, Uthrid ran into a small village in the Melting Lands where he was staying at the local inn with his brothers when he heard a very familiar sound, the screams of women and children on the realization of an incoming raid. At first, Uthrid dismissed this as his an instrument of his imagination, or maybe a vivid flashback, but it only became reality as time progressed. Uthrid would grab his axe and his brothers to go outside to fight the incoming raiders, and as fate had it, he recognized the banner as the one from the horrific dark night of his childhood. The memories of this night would flash through his head, and as a result would leave Uthrid in a state of bloodlust and hate. His brothers and him would quickly engage into combat with the Grulks. The Magnhild brothers played many foes that day, but that is not where this blood grudge would end. Uthrid would see the leader of this raiding band, and rush towards him, in the far distance he saw a great bear, a sign from Hedren he perceived. The gods were in his favor. After making his way to the raider's leader, he would call to the leader to demand a one-on-one combat with the leader. The leader accepted, for reasons unknown, and so the ordeal of his life began. The leader would charge at him and swing his sword recklessly into Uthrid, which he would parry with his axe, and began his own assault on the leader. Uthrid would begin to use all of his overwhelming strength into his swings, attempting to use brute force to smash through the leader's shield, though this did not work. The bandit leader would then shove him off-balance using his shield and then counter with his sword, barely scrapping Uthrid's face and scarring his face around his cheek. Unfazed by this landed hit, Uthrid would smile in a grinning manner and unleash a fury of built up hate and anger and would eventually overcome the defenses of the raider's leader and land a deadly strike to his chest, and then would swiftly follow up with a clean swing to the head, incapacitating the leader. The grudge had now ended, he bent over and padded his fingers into the blood of the leader and dragged them along his face with two small stripes of blood on his face and then would continue to raise the leader's head. The band of raiders would flee in fear as they were decisively defeated by the Magnhild brothers and the local warriors.

Uthrid's journey for vengeance would end, but his ambitions were not yet quenched. He aspired to be a great warrior and bring the family name fame and honor. Magnhild would set off for his journey to fulfill these ambitions on the continent of Esna, though it is not sure if the rest of his family will join him in this quest. Only time will tell for Uthrid and his family.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Due to the traumatic childhood of Uthrid, with his father and mother being killed, the situation may remind him of the night in his past. If it does remind him of the past, Uthrid would quickly engage in combat with the thief, using his superior combat skills to the petty jewelry thief, he would kill him as such dishonorable filth does not need to live. He would then rush to the woman (assuming she's still alive) who was critically wounded, and wrap her wound with some kind of basic cloth (he does not know much about medicine) and would attempt to help her find the nearest doctor or person who may help her.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

He spends his time in a solitary way, by himself usually, he is not too fond of strangers and would not converse with them unless they are unrelentingly annoying him. He keeps to himself and would spend his time either cleaning off his weapons and just doing small things to pass the time. If the time is long enough, Uthrid may take a nap.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Uthrid has a deep-hate in his heart for the Drahl people, mostly for what they did to his family. He would quickly refuse and tell her to get lost, if she refuses he may threaten the mysterious person. After dismissing this person, he would go out and hunt whatever he could find and make his own meal for himself.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

Uthrid would not hesitate to kill the weeping soldier, the weak are not fit to live in such a harsh world. He would put him out of his misery and possible future hardships and end his life right there with a clean blow to the neck. There is no time for mercy or hesitation in the midst of battle, and more important when facing your enemies on the battlefield.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Well it's just Uthrid's luck he too is a Northern, so hopefully they would be more hospitable to him. Maybe share a story or two of his adventures with him and share a drink with them in the tavern.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

You should find a version of your skin without armor. You must physically acquire armor in order to have a skin with that same kind on it.

Great definitions!

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
