How did you hear about Tale of Banners?

Me and my friends found this server through searches.

Do you have any previous roleplay experience?

Is there anything you would like to add?

I've spent plenty of years on big community servers, but by far I enjoyed small community roleplay and friendly servers that communicated with their players. I originally played on Alvaeron.

Playing a role or fantasized character.

Also known as godRP. For example, killing fifty guys with one swing. Simply going to kill someone out of nowhere when it's obvious you shouldn't be able to, etc.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’

Using information given out of character, in character, usually to your advantage.

"Hey Jimmy, your character is going to die by poison in three days."
"Oh really? Now that I know that, I'm gonna go submit him to the hospital."

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

A character usually acted out by its player as overly important, of godhood or something silly while it might just be an average Joe.

Gunnar Atwood.

Northerner 'Summit Folk'.

Story & Biography:

Birth and Origins

  • Gunnar is the first son of Bård Atwood and his first wife Alda Atwood.

  • He was born on the 23rd of April in the walled city of Skogsjhem. He was the first of his father’s children, followed by his brother Joestein and two other siblings from Frida, his father’s bondwife.

  • Gunnar was lucky enough to have a happy and fairly uncomplicated childhood, his parents were very well received in the village and his father was a master hunter. So he certainly never went hungry.

  • When Gunnar came of age he began to join his father and other relatives on their daily hunts, learning to track and be observant of his surroundings first, while practicing with a child’s bow at home.

  • Gunner spent most of his free time hanging around his younger cousins and brother, even getting along well with Isak despite his mother’s distaste for him. They would go hunting together in the wilderness, and explore the great pine forests that surrounded their home.

  • Gunnar continued to study hunting into his adolescence, memorizing and adopting the principles as written in his father's journal on the essentials of hunting, as well as other knowledge he gained from his family members. This lifestyle encouraged him to be a much more quiet than the rest of his siblings, laid back and observant like his father.

  • It wouldn’t be until Isak and Selvie manifested their own skill in their units that Gunnar was able to get a handle on his own, encouraged and cared for in a way that his older relatives and parents hadn't.

Young Adulthood

  • Gunnar would prove to be an exceptional hunter for his age, going out alone into the wilderness to chase down deer, and in groups with his father or Isak to challenge local packs of wolves.

  • The blizzard 'Rithgar' hit the Atwood’s particularly hard, and the community that Gunnar called home was ruined by the end of it all. Separated from the rest of his family, Gunnar never left Skogsjhem unlike many of his other relatives. Instead he remained in the wilderness, where months would turn to almost two years as he explored the area to search for any trace of his surviving family members.

  • After two years since Rithgar, Gunnar finally got the sign he was looking for when Sylas and his crew landed ashore in a long boat. While he missed them initially, he was able to find a message left behind for him painted on a large boulder outside the village, and the tracks from the crew that had left.

  • Gunnar arrives in Down-water Crossing, with only his bow and the promise of his family to drive him forward in a foreign place.

Open-ended questions
At least three must be answered. Delete the spares(if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each of the answered questions.

Question 1
You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Gunnar would most likely haul after the woman and hurry her somewhere to be patched up with little dialogue. He'd take good care in making sure she was safe in the end. Likely after, he'd go hunting for the man who stole her valuables in hopeful thought of getting the goods and keeping them. Knowing she was safe, Gunnar wouldn't blink an eye at returning it. The Northerner would later return with a passive "I couldn't find him, miss," and promptly make off with the various jewelry.

Question 2
You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

The Atwood, low on coin and out of options for the moment, turned toward the camp with a sigh. He wandered about the stalls until he found a fletcher of decent arrows and toyed with them until he found a fletching he loved. "I'll take 'em," he spoke out to the vendor as he slapped the last of his coins down. The vendor eyed him quizzically as it only cost one coin, but he didn't argue. Taking Gunnar for an idiot, he made the exchange and Gunnar made his way off happily. "Thanks, fletch'."

Question 3
You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Gunnar shrugged, "Food's food, dear," he muttered out as the exchange was made for the meal. For the time being, Gunnar had a genuine distaste for it until he realize he'd likely go all night and most of another day getting a single meal elsewhere, and this place wasn't so awful. After the long thought, he simply shook his head at his own reluctance and took a bite. It didn't taste good, but it wasn't until later that he rolled over in his sleep and woke up vomiting his guts out. Gunnar was not only at a loss for a meal, but also the meal he ate earlier that day. He fell back and groaned until he could sleep it off.
