Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

It's like acting. You create a character in a fictional settings with a history, personality, and goals and write how they would react in response to some conflict.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

Typically, forcing an action to succeed on a character resulting in their harm. For example, instead of attempting to swing my sword at a character, I would swing my sword at a character, landing it directly on their neck and incapacitating them instantly.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

Using information gained OOC to affect the world IC. For example, if I hear about an IC conversation through discord, my character cannot presume to know that information.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

A perfect character with no flaws. They often auto-succeed all their actions and instantly destroy all conflict that they encounter.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

Out of Character. If you make an out of character comment, you should use this term in order to prevent confusion.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation

Taslim ibn Hatim Al Rahman

Can your character read and write?:

Story & Biography
Taslim ibn Hatim Al Rahman, shortened Taslim Al Rahman, was born in the Korsian Emirate of Kharman. His father, Hatim ibn Rashad Al Rahman, served some very minor noble family as a barrister. Taslim and his mother were always kept very comfortable, albeit never wealthy. He was educated from a very young age and often did well when his teachers could keep his attention.

At around his sixteenth year, he enlisted in the Kharman Navy where he was trained as a marine engineer. He grew to love sailing, as well as his work in ship design and maintenance but did not enjoy the structure of military life. After a six-year stint in the navy, he left for private enterprise. He would accompany merchant ships in various roles depending on their need for his services (as a quartermaster, navigator, engineer, etc.). This would continue for several years before he, too, left that career in pursuit of

Taslim stands at a little under six feet tall. He has dark skin, dark eyes, and black hair (which he usually keeps very short and hides under a turban). He has a very slim, athletic figure with a narrow waist and broad shoulders. He often wears brightly colored robes, tied at the waist by a sash.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Upon recognizing the woman is in critical condition, Taslim hurries into the tavern to enlist the help of the barkeep, or anyone sober, before he returns to the woman. Although not a doctor by any stretch of the word, he does his best to stop the bleeding and keep the woman calm until someone better fit for the job arrives. Upon the arrival of a healer or a guard, he would accompany the woman to a hospital and remain until her condition stabilizes.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

If Taslim can not enter the city immediately, he would attempt to enjoy his time at the camp. He would search for any kind of makeshift tavern, campfire, or any source of possible revelry. He would engage the group in drinking games, songs, and exaggerated stories of his time at sea. Hopefully, Taslim would find a few friends he may call on again next time he visits Telth.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

Taslim has never been too merciless, and in fact, is often more empathic than his fellow soldiers. He likely wouldn’t outstretch his hand to help his enemy, but he would acknowledge their humanity. Upon witnessing the wounded soldier, he would lock eyes and nod in sympathy. He might say a quick prayer before turning and retreating to find a group of his fellow soldiers.
