Section 1/4 - Out of Character Information

Minecraft Username(s):

Full UUID for your MineCraft account(s) (Found here):

- 08554088-537d-48fa-8cf2-aa4f990f5916

What is your age?
(We need to know this as our server has an age restriction)

- 15

Have you read the server rules? (Found here)

- I have

Do you agree with the server rules?

- One hundred percent, super fair :)

How did you hear about Tale of Banners?

- A friend reccomended it to me.

Do you have any previous roleplay experience?
(Please give examples, no experience is acceptable)

- Yes! I used to roleplay with the friend who invited me on Lord of the craft. I played for about a year and have acknowledgeable experience. I can handle myself when it comes to roleplaying.

Additional Information: (If any)

- Horrible at doing backstories. I apologize for that part, but I do know how to roleplay. It has been a year and I'm going to need practice so the instances at the bottom will be rusty, but I will get back into the swing of things. I'm excited to grow this community!

Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

- I think its a way for others to experience different situations. I get its fantasy but a lot of people do have trouble in real life, and roleplaying is a good way to escape it.Roleplaying also improves other skills such as reading comprehension, grammar, attention span, etc. Roleplaying is a way for others to have a life they never could.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

- Powergaming is when you dominate, or frusturate another player. You try to defeat them and overpower your opponent, rather than play your own cards right. Powergaming doesnt allow the other play to react, or get theirselves back up and try to defend themself.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

- Metagaming is when you take information out of game and use it to your advantage inside of the roleplay. Like if someone tells you out of game on discord that there is someone going to attack you, and your character knows, this is metagaming. Your character has to get his/her information in game.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

- Someone very basic, who doesnt have many flaws or ideals. These characters are very boring. Usually flat and static characters. Skills with no backstory.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

- Out of character is what you use to speak to other players that consists out of game. Using information from OOC and applying it to roleplay is a form of metagaming. OUT OF CHARACTER is not in roleplay. This is talking to other players.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Provide us with an in-game screenshot of your character’s skin.

Name: Hanke Schaefer

Age: 21

Culture: Oserian / Northener

Can your character read and write?:

- Yes

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

(Please note although the character you apply with can commit illegal or immoral acts you cannot do these things on the server without an Intrigue application. This can be applied for once you are whitelisted.) Found here: (Intrigue Application)
(You are also able to apply with a noble but keep in mind you cannot play a noble character on the server unless you join an accepted noble house or apply for one.) Found here: (Noble Houses)
- Hanke was always a little quiet around his family, and not the best at his hobbies or jobs, but he always made way for what was most important. The ones most close to him. Hanke opens up around his peers and family. He doesn't have the best people skills due to not having the best education or living situation which caused him to always get into fights from not picking up social cues. He grew up with one his step-brother due to his father getting with another woman. He always was by his fathers side, and he worked hard as a shephard, allowing him to be quite nimble in his ways. Always finding his way through herds when he got stuck. Hanke is outgoing towards people he is very fond too, but keeps to himself because he understands that he will be judged nonetheless. When he was about 14, his brother and him somehow got into a brutal fight. His brother threatened Hanke, and being the clueless runt he is, said the wrong thing, causing his brothers anger issues to boil. He somehow slashed Hanke's eye with a sword. This is where Hanke became a new person. He decided he was tired of the situation he was living in, and moved to a tribe just a few miles off of the Northern land. He met the Black Band, and grew up there at the age of 18. Ever since he his changing into a new man. He loves weapons, and was always very fond of the idea of wielding a blade, but never had too much money. Surely in time Hanke will grow fierce rather than shy, and grow up into a strong man.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

- Hanke makes an effort to resist being forced in some poorly taken care of camps, but once he reaches the camp gates, he notices the struggling families crowded by markets, and paths. He makes his way over to the largest family in the group, and reaches for his canteen. He only spares a couple drops, because he's going to need the extra few for the blazing city of the Sun. He reaches down with an awkward smile on his face attempting to reassure the youngins. He pulls up his canteen in hesitation, hard to leave after feeling strong empathy for this poor family. He struts away, hoping he can soon forget about helping only a few, and decides to cheer himself up by rewarding himself with a trinket. Hanke pulls his hat down a smidge, and decides he'll head somewhere else other than the city.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

- Hanke shutters in the sight of the dead, as he shakes the mans shoulder as he is filled with despair, he quickly urges him to flee before his brothers in arms return. The man cradling the dead doesn't budge, and seems to begin to cry harder. Hanke sees his militia return, and he decides to end this mans suffering. Raising his sword, he feels regret, but also feels the need to do what he came for. He raises his sword above the enemy and cracks his already half-broken helmet. Hanke soon forgets in the next minute, wipes off his sword, and pushes the head off the end.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

- Hanke being the full blooded Northerner he his, summons up the courage to strut on in. Showing from his dented armor, and his bruised face, he shakes the freezing ice and black slush out of the creases of his armor. He keeps his head down, and buys a cheap beef stew with only old potatoes and knock off pork instead of beef. Stuffing the old food down his cold throat, he is filled with delight as the warm furnace and sound of light chatter fills the tavern. Hanke stuffs whats left of his meal into his satchel and quickly takes off into town. Open eyes fill the room as they stare at this crazy man.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

Your definitions are superb and very well explained.

I almost put your application on pending as your bio has very little server lore apart from a passing comment on the northern territories, please keep in mind that characters you create on the server need to build on the established server lore and history.

Your open ended questions are written very well and certainly pushed me to accept in the end, they show excellent English language skills and roleplay experience.

All in all a very good application! Well done!

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
