Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

Quite simply the act of being someone else. To both think and act like this character you create would. It requires a degree of separation from your own biases and ways of thinking to fully act as your character.

-

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

Creating an unconscionably unfair situation that requires another player to play along solely for the benefit of your character. Creating situations that allow your character to never lose, i.e. making your character conveniently happen to have an antidote for the poison which you just ingested.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

Using OOC info or abilities to influence your in game decisions or actions. I.E. reading something on an IC forum that your character would not technically have access to and bringing that information in game to use against someone.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

A character that is inhumanely perfect with no flaws or faults.

-

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

Out of character. Should be used to denote info or actions that are not intended to be in RP, and therefore cannot be brought into RP.

Name:

Age:

72

Culture:

Oserian

Can your character read and write?:

Yes

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

Pelagius Francis is an Oserian of 72 years age. He was found an in the woods, likely being left to die with no parents in site, by Prior Allan, the Prior of the local monastery of the Path of One. Prior Allan took Pelagius under his own and raised him in the monastery like a father. Likewise, Pelagius chose to join the monastic life and trained to become a monk of the Path of One. From his early teenage years, he had always had an interest in academics and the pursuit of knowledge. He excelled in his studies of the Path of One, and he became a well-learned man as a result of his work.

He finally completed his education and took his vows and became a full-fledged monk at the age of 26, just two years before Prior Allan passed. He has been continuing his studies of both the world and the Path of One at the monastery for over 45 years. He has written multiple treatises on both the Path of One, as well as books on the nature of man and politics.

Pelagius considers himself a soft-spoken intellectual. He must think through what he says before he says it. He is a kind monk, who rather than scolds sinners like many of the priests of the Path of One, he chooses to preach through kindness.

Pelagius now seeks to further his studying and proselytizing throughout the land.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Yes, Pelagius was drinking. It is not something that he is proud of, and it is perhaps his biggest vice he struggles with. He does not slip up frequently, but when he does he crucifies himself over it. Seeing what is going on, he yells at the thief, but he realizes that not only does he not have a weapon, but he is also in no shape to chase after anyone. He rushes over to the collapsed woman, and sees the blood rushing from her wound. He takes the hood off of his robe and fastens it over her wound like a bandage. Rapidly though, the blood soaks through that too. The woman is getting more pale by the minute, and it becomes apparent that she likely won't make it. Pelagius offers her last rites, and asks her to confess her final sins. She begins to do so, but before she can finish her words trail off and her pulse is lost. Pelagius says a prayer over her, gets up, and goes back to the tavern to try and alert a guardsmen.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

Pelagius is likewise annoyed at the delay, although he doesn't let it show. As he walks through the refugee camp he reminds himself of an edict of the Path of One Those who show a pure heart will ultimately be blessed by the One." This calms him, and sets his mind at ease. Walking around the camp, he sees the poverty with which the refugees live in. A seemingly parent-less child covered in mud and dressed in ragged cloth catches his eye. It strikes deeply into his heart to see the innocence of a child be tainted by something with which he cannot control. He reaches into his robe and pulls out his coin purse, which is near empty. He hands what is left of his coins to the child and instructs him to buy some food, and tells him that the One will see to it that you will be alright. The kid runs along, and Pelagius moves on to find another refuge to spread the good news to.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Pelagius is wary to enter the town, knowing how outsiders are seen by villagers. He dons the hood of his monk robes, a fledgling attempt at concealing the fact that he is an outsider. He wanders into the tavern, with the villagers seated inside staring at him the entire time he walks over to the tavern owner. He attempts to buy a room and food for the night, and attempts to hand the owner 3 coins -- the entirety of his purse. The owner growls back that that's not enough. Astounded, Pelagius asks how can it be so much for room and board for one night? The owner barks back that tonight it's double for outisders. Upset at the arrogance, Pelagius stops to think. An idea comes into his head, and reluctantly, he removes a golden ring from his finger -- given to him by Prior Allan upon his death, and hands it to the owner asking if this will be enough. The owner looks it over, laughs to himself, and after a moment of pausing he states that you're just in luck I know of one room that could go for this much. The owner gets up and guides him to a door, opens it, and reveals a ramshackle storage room with a cot. Pelagius thanks the man, enters, and shuts the door behind him. He hears the roars of laughter of the other villagers who had been watching the transaction. He says a prayer, and hops into the cot to get some much needed rest.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

Interesting claim with the judge thing. TBH though, we do go through in-game years here, so be sure you check to ensure you don't die of old age right away.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
