How old are you?-

What is your favorite color?-

Have you read and agreed to the rules?-

I have, and will probably keep it as an open tab while playing on the server.

Have you REALLY read the rules? If so which one do you most agree with?-

Rule #9: Use common sense. So many people fail to do this on other roleplay servers, and it's what most Staff and player disputes come down to- people need to use common sense.

Are there any changes you would make to any the rules?(if so why?)-

Well, to be honest, the third rule in the Combat RP rules was a bit hazy- it seemed like it was either missing a comma or just worded oddly.

How did you find Tale of Banners?-

Heard it through the grape vine of Roleplayers.

Do you have any experience with other roleplay servers if so which server(s) and for how long?-

I do, around:

1 year on Hollowworld.
1 1/2 years on Aethier.
1/2 of a year on Alaurin Roleplay.
3 months on LotC.
4 months on a Roman RP server.
If you don’t know any of the definitions feel free to look them up just make sure you understand them and write them in your own words.

What is Roleplaying?-

Roleplaying is taking on the role of a character and playing their life out as they would- not necessarily to meet a goal or "win the game" ( if that was even possible ), but to play a character in a different scenario of a different time in a different world as best as possible, and interact with other people and their characters maturely.

What is Metagaming?-

Metgaming is using any and all OOC information that your character wouldn't know ICly to affect his or her actions.

What is Powergaming?-

Powergaming has two parts in my experience- the first being that your character is heavily unbalanced or excessively OP without any character development to get you to a sufficient point to where you could be more powerful than anyone else. Powergaming is also forcing an action on another player.

What is OOC, IC, and IRL?-
IC Information:
Here is where you actually describe and create your own character. Be realistic! Follow the lore, and make sure your character makes sense and is someone you want to play as.

Characters Name-

Alexander Hammond Glamorgan.

Characters Race-

Characters Sex (Male or female)-

Characters Biography (This is where you can get creative. Write down your characters story from birth to present time. Use lore and follow the server timeline, and events. Must be a minimum of 2 paragraphs long)

1123, a homely hovel within the Oserian planes. A mother enters labor on a cold winter night, howling and screaming out in agony as the baby begins making it's way from her womb. The soon to be born child's grandfather stokes the fire, trying to keep it warm while his grandmother attempts at calming the mother. The local Ossier was on his way in a five mile hike to come bless the child, along with an apothecary to help the mother ( as it commonly happened ) to not die during child birth with her home-remedied medicine due to a poverty ridden lifestyle, and little to no wealth.

Haphazardly, the baby was delivered by it's grandparents- as the apothecary nor Ossier made it in time to assist in the birthing. The mother, though sore, lived that day- and thus was born, Alexander Hammond Glamorgan. Where was the father in all of this? Well, as it were- around the time Alexander was born, his father was away on duty as a soldier- besieging the North with soon-to-be Emperor Leopold. The man had been in service for only ten months, and frankly, didn't know he had a child to come home to. The family had no parchment- nigh could they afford it- to notify the man that he had a kid on the way. After the first few months of Alexander's time in the world, the father returned home. He was tired, weary, and now worldly. He had slaughtered children and burnt villages and supply lines in the cold, harsh north. He had seen his friends die in avalanches, and comrades succumb to frostbite. He wasn't the happy husband that left when he was recruited as a levy, not at all. This was not to say he was stereo typically abusive- more so distant, not wanting to hurt the child. Thus, as Alexander grew up- he got the notion his father disliked him, which lead to a scarred mentality in his earlier years.

To go back, Alexander was named after the King, Alexander the Fifth who died in battle against the claimant to the Oserian throne, Mortimer Telroy. His father was a bit of a history buff, and thus is why he was given a strong name- to help Alexander lead on a strong-willed, determined life. To get back to the story of Alexander, as he entered his late childhood and adolescent years, he took to the fields of his father's land of which the Glamorgan family received as payment for Alexander's father's service under Leopold. Working from dawn to dusk, Alexander made his way into his teenage years as a strong, tan, ignorant farm boy. He was a bit of a loner, however, and often made his way to the closest town to listen to the sermons of the Ossiers to gain knowledge of his people's gods, as his father was atheist, after seeing the atrocity of war. He also found himself sneaking into the local library, where an old woman taught young farm children how to read in secret despite their non-gentle birth. Gaining the skills of simple reading, young Alexander would often save up what coins he could after the harvest, to buy historical texts and learn about battle strategies and the great stories of his kingdom's past, and his people's origins. He became a buff of history, infatuated with the glory of battle. Alexander had always dreamt to be a soldier like his father, though his father rarely spoke of deeds done. His father would end up dying of liver failure, undiagnosed of course since medicine and medical knowledge was barren in the poor towns of the Oserian plains.

Alexander's father, like many men of his time, spent his coin on hard corn liquor and drank himself to death. His mother grew old and weary, leaving Alexander to run his father's farm, which he did up until the age of twenty, when the adventurous mind of a young man caught up to him and he took what he had, up and leaving home. Finding his way to Dunsgate with none more than his father's claymore and a history book, ( and the clothes on his back ) Alexander went to seek out a teacher of the sword, as to prepare him for the lifestyle of a soldier. Alexander slept in the stables of horses for a while until he gathered enough money as a stable boy to afford a slummish home in the lower districts, and kept him afloat. He had begun lessons with a sword teacher that lasted only a few months, as chaos and war broke out with Leopold's death. His home was stripped and Alexander fled from the Oserian plains, into the barbaric swamplands for refuge until 1147, when the houses stopped warring. Only then did he rejourney to Dunsgate, ready to start his life as a young man of twenty four in the world.

Character Traits & Ambitions-

  • Determination- He has a high level of determination once he sets his mind on a goal. Once he has a set strategy for what he wants, it's hard to blow him off course.
  • Level Headed- Alexander is level-headed, and insults rarely bother him- as by his life code. You are what you say you are, not what others think of you.
  • Loyalty- Alexander has the loyalty of a dog, and if you watch his back, he'll watch yours.
  • Xenophobic- Not knowing much about other cultures besides the barbarians of the swamp, Alexander has the Oserian mindset of conquering and seeing all that are not his people beneath him, and refuses to accept other cultures. From his father, Alexander also has a keen hatred for the clans of the North.
  • Prejudiced- Alexander is a very classic man, and openly speaks out against any form of gender equality or homosexuality.
  • Treacherous- From reading ( maybe a bit too much ) of his people's history, Alexander has a ruthless thirst for conquering and fighting as long as he deems it worthy.
  • Religious- Alexander after listening to many sermons has an uncanny fear of the pantheon, and is highly religious. Particularly, Alexander might be considered a zealot of Hogvir.

Characters Strengths and Weaknesses-

  • Alexander knows all about agriculture, and he can always fall back on serfdom his his life goes to utter garbage.
  • He is a student of the sword- and fancies himself to be sharp with a claymore- though he is no master, be believes himself to be a potentially good soldier.
  • Alexander isn't a weak lad, his muscles are toned, though his malnutrition strains on them, as he is poor.

  • Alexander looks weak to others, simply because he'll back out of a fight if he doesn't deem it worth his time.
  • He comes from a poor background, so he believes himself to be nothing more than a humble peasant looking to seek fortune in a war.
  • Alexander has a very depressing, sad outlook on life. His mentality isn't all there, and he believes he'll probably die young.

Characters appearance (Be descriptive)-

Alexander is a younger, tall lad who is moving towards the end of his prime- around 24 winters- and purely bred for the farm life of a peon. Alexander's height rests at a stout 5 foot 10 inches, with broadened shoulders and muscular arms that flow into his slimmer, lower body. He has powerful calves and thighs as to give him the ability to move at swifter speeds, but sadly his upper body's still weighs him down against smaller framed opponents. To Alexander's aesthetics, he has shorter hair that lies unkempt with the color of a dark brown or lightly brushed black, flowing against his olive-esque lightly tanned skin. His face is sharp and prominent, with a distinct jawline and set of cheekbones that all form to his pointed chin. His eyes are a lighter, warm green, a trait passed down from his father's side.

Role-Playing Scenarios:
These scenarios will be used in order to test your role-playing abilities. Please answer any 3 of the 4 scenarios listed, and remember to complete these scenarios in as much detail as possible.

Your character finds themselves in the middle of an arena with nothing more than a robe on their back. As you character looks around there is what appears to be a spear on the ground approximately 15 meters ahead of them. They’re not the only person in this arena however, with several others scattered around the arena. Each member in that arena is trying to get that spear. How does you character survive this ordeal?

Alexander, not knowing how he got himself into such a scenario, would instantly snap to his surroundings, taking in his opponents. He knew he might not win, as he had no knowledge of polearm combat, but he could perhaps try to outlast the others and overpower the strongest while their back was turned. When the rush started for the weapon, he would sweep around the edge of the arena and let the better fighters pick off the weak ones. When he saw an opportunity to strike while the spear-holder's back was turned, he would rush him from behind and jump onto his back, sending a flurry of punches at the side of his head as soon as their bodies thudded to the ground. When the man was at least bloody and unconscious, Alexander would retrieve the spear and go into a defensive position, to fend off the rest of the attackers, jabbing and slashing. Blows upon blows struck Alexander, but with the adrenal rush and the fight or flight reflexes, Alexander barely managed to survive the ordeal.

Returning from the tavern after a long night of drinking, your character passes through the streets and alleyways on the short return home. However, on the way you hear a woman in distress coming from around the corner. The woman is being robbed and is clearly distraught. What does your character do next?

Alexander swayed up to the woman, his vision clouded after a night of fun and heavy drinking. Being a normal man, and not fully understanding the situation in his drunken state, Alexander would simply return her a few lewd comments and push her away, stating it wasn't his problem. He would head home, and forget all about the woman's problems and focus on his hangover when he woke up.

On the road going passing from Oseria to Crosia, your character gets lost and ends up at Crookmire Swamp. Although lost, your character decides to stay the night in Crookmire and continue their travels in the morning. After a few hours your character begins to get hungry and heads to a local street vendor. The vendor offers you some baked goods, however warns of out of body experiences if they are to eat this food. What does your character do next, and how do they react to this situation?

In the midst of battle, your character finds themselves next a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly upset as he cradles one of his dead. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. He continues to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name is despair. Then the soldier glances up to see your character with sword in hand, but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. What does your character do next?

Alexander's face would grow grim at the horror of loss as his march halted along the battlefield, the sword in hand nearly sliding out as Alexander's grip loosened on it in half shock. Being a new soldier, he had never seen such before, and got a bit emotional- his lower lip quivering slightly. He would quickly survey the area to make sure his officers and friends were bust mid battle before approaching the grieving enemy, giving him a curt nod. Alexander then had an epiphany of sorts, realizing that though this was a loss of a friend- the two were still enemies, and would've gladly struck him down. Doing what was necessary to ensure victory on his platoon's behalf, he raised the sword overhead and paused for a moment, before drawing it down to strike into the top of the still alive's man head, a shower of crimson raining up. He felt something break inside, but he drew the sword back out of the man's now caved in skull, flicked the brain matter off his weapon, and marched off to return to the fight.
