Favourite: All characters must fit the server’s setting and lore as well as be properly balanced(no god-moding). This also means any existing character or individual outside of the server is disallowed.
Change: I agree with the current rules, but would like to mention more on the nobility front, making it clear on whether fallen nobility is fine, along with a few more specific locations being mentioned

How did you hear about Tale of Banners?
I looked up fantasy minecraft server on google.

What is your previous roleplay experience?
I was a DM for D&D 5E for a while, and a player for a bit longer. I've looked at several different RPing systems.

Is there anything you would like to add?

I would like to see more detail put into religions and religious practices. They always fascinate me. Outside races and cultures of the play area are also nice to know about.

Ofried Mayros

Oserian Native
(one parent may have been a northman)

Story & details:

Dark brown, long, shaggy hair and Blue eyes of the Mayros family. Lightly tanned skin from the various campaigns he has been in. One scar on his left arm from an attempt to remove his shield from him. He is well kept, although he often has a tired appearance. He has a fairly well built body due to his military lifestyle, although he has become more slender in recent years, sometimes giving him a hollow appearance. He wears the insignia of his family on his armor and on his banners. A four pointed figure. Three points stand for the Three Primal beings of the family, and the fourth being the family itself, which supports everything else.

Born in the year 1109, Ofried was one son of 15 (maybe more). Ofried's father, Lord Ofries Mayros, was a very distant relative to the Telroys in charge of the Oserian Kingdom. Ofries had fathered many bastards, and more that were not known as bastards. Noone except Ofried's parents knows if he was a bastard himself. His family's personal crest was the same as all other Mayros's, and Ofries was a weak member of the family. Ofries projected no power, and had very little land as a count. Ofried was in essence, the 15th son of a 15th son.
(I would be fine to change the house relations, if him being subtly related to the Telroys is a problem)
Ofried's upbringing was standard of a young noble child, and his days consisted of training, education, and learning keys to power. Ofried knew he would most likely never be in charge of anything other than the family's finances in some far off fortress. At age 11, King Leopold sieges the north. His father went to war, and came home with a few more bastards as usual. He wasn't a cruel father, just unmannered an weak. Ofries had actually been demoted in position throughout his army career for various failures and inefficiencies. Ofries would go off to war against Drahl and northern rebellions occasionally for the next 25 years, and come back. Ofried's older brothers eventually started joining their father in the campaigns. Ofried saw all these coming and goings, and determined that his father was a weak man. He couldn't protect their family if something was to happen to it.
Ofried had grown into a young nobleman, and continued his standard training. He wasn't one to chase woman like other's at his age, as he saw it as a frivolous activity. He instead studied harder than other's, even his older brothers. To facilitate this, he ordered the construction of a hidden study where he could find peace. Ofried didn't want to be the 15th son of a 15th son. Ofried wanted to be the head of the family. Ofried's studies led him to show great strategic thinking on his tests and an astute level of adaptability.
Ofried's first opportunity to show his abilities came in his first campaign at age 16. Ofried started as a standard noble soldier, but showed great promise through his support of his men. A skirmish on the edge of the Drahl swamps showed his talent in great detail. Ofried's 12 men had been marching with a military camp following behind. They had just entered the swamp when suddenly an arrow caught the loincloth of the frontguard. Ofried immediately started giving out commands. "Parsons, duck behind that cover and look for eyes. Mabes, try to confirm identity of contacts. Hillfried, go to frontguard with Commins." Ofried himself had been scanning the brush for targets. "LEFTWARD" Parsons cried out. Immediately 4 soldiers headed over in that direction, as per training. "I SEE TWO ON THE RIGHT!" declared Ofried. "I WANT MABES AND DISTER" he yelled as he sprinted towards the contacts. As they approached the brush, the Drahl jumped out and slashed Mabes in his chest. Ofried was able to grab one of their sides with his bag, and used the leverage to topple over the foe. Dister dealt with the one targeting Mabes. This skirmish was the start of a 6 day series of battles that would see many Oserians die, and present lasting impact on Ofried.
Ofried would continue to go to war with his father and brothers regularly for years. Ofried would continually improve his skills in warfare, earning a few commendations. He was far from a perfect commander, and would micromanage his soldiers too much. He was unable to secure higher positions due to this fault, and he learned to accept this, although grudgingly. Ofried's father would die in year 1136, leaving his estate to the oldest son.
At age 31, in the year 1140, Ofried was on a small campaign in the north. He had been needed less and less due to the increasing stability of the region, and was now only a peacekeeper. In the north, Ofried met a strange priest who claimed to be a servant of Ostendus, a single deity who controlled everything. Ofried laughed with other men at this priest, due to their religious inclinations. Ofried had never been a very religious man, but he was a follower of three Primal beings, Falen, Attero, and Hogvir, the standard of a noble soldier. It was his duty to the people to get rid of this priest, so he threw the man into a dungeon.
In 1144, the kingdom fell into chaos. Emperor Leopold had died without an heir. The Mayros's were only related by an obscure rule, and as such had no claim to the throne, and even if they had, Noone in their family was in a position to do something about it. Ofried and his brothers became fixated on securing their home from the Drahl declaring independence and peasant revolts. Ofried himself was only leading a small squad at this time. Then one day, a skirmish in their home city led to them being ambushed by hungry peasants. Ofried's friends and some of his brothers were killed in the riot, Ofried only barely escaping by a hidden passage he had developed as the financier of construction years back. Ofried attempted to return home, where he discovered the mob at his family's doorstep. Ofried dressed down to look like a peasant and slipped inside with the crowd. He noticed something strange, their were very well armed individuals inside the crowd. Inside the castle he found most of his family still alive. He escorted them to a room he had once used to study in years ago, hidden from the rest of the castle. That night the castle was on fire. The family was able to retake it after harsh fighting.
Ofried saw something that his family had completely ignored, he saw weakness. They had let their enemies get too close, they had become to concerned with petty titles and commendations. He himself had fallen into this trap. He would be rid of it. Ofried left to the north in order to train his spirit. In the north he ran into the priest from years ago. Ofried asked the priest how he was still alive, with the priest giving a simple response. "Ostendus saved me." When pressed further the priest told how a natural disaster let him escape from his cell and continue spreading his religion. The priest displayed something Ofried had wanted for so long, purpose. His family was just trying to look good to other nobles. This was not a purpose. This was a state of living. The priest showed Ofried what it means to have purpose. Purpose is the structure around which life is built. Purpose was the strength that Ofried looked for. Ofried became the priest's disciple for a year. The blizzard drove them southward. They practiced their religion in secret, as the devout nature of the average man would label them heretics. They preached to crowds that they believed would listened. Occasionally the crowd would begin to get hostile and they would have to escape, but this was their new life. The priest was getting sicker, probably due to the blizzard. The priest died late in 1146, in the northern provinces of the Oserian Kingdom. Ofried would continue spreading the word in secret, returning home shortly for funding his travels, before leaving once more.

Open-ended questions
At least three must be answered. Delete the spare(if applicable).
You find yourself in an arena surrounded by high sandstone walls. Much like all the dozen of strangers in the arena, you only have a robe - the single weapon is a spear on the ground, in the very centre of the arena. You are a short sprint's distance from it - closer than most of the others - but even so the others have already spotted it and are running to grab it. They seem to be ready to fight for their lives. You...

I act as though I dash forward to grab it, but gate slightly leftward. I jump off my foot to tackle the closest opponent. In a swift movement, I shove right to push the man who has grabbed the spear. I find myself being flung by a third woman who attempts to strangle me. I move my leg under hers to gain leverage to flip her onto her back, breaking her arm in the process. The man with the spear has broken the tip off and stabbed two men with it, as far as my perception can tell. I sprint towards him, being careful to watch for the knife, grabbing it with my bare hand as he cuts towards me. This puts a severe gash in my right hand, making it useless. With the left I grab his face and proceed to gouge his eyes out. The knife is now in my hands, and with skillfull wielding, I will be able to win.

You're heading home after some drinking at the tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

I Rush to the woman as fast as I can, however the drunken stupor I find myself in causes me to fall to my knees beside her. I rip off my left sleeve and belt and put pressure on her wound. The minor medical skills that I do have lead me to apply the pressure too fast, causing her to screech in pain before i loosen the bandage a little. I peek up to look for the man, and only see a few footprints heading into the dark. I attempt to follow them, but the stone pavement keeps me from tracking him. I go back to check on the woman, yelling for help from nearby passers, hoping she will survive.

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as he cradles one of his dead. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. He continues to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name is despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You...

I approach the soldier , watching my flanks for enemies. As I approach I say a prayer to my god, Ostendus. "Give this man strength to find you in his darkest hour. Be with him in his passage." I approach behind and plunge my sword into his back, killing him as quickly as I met him.
