-Born to a family of Blacksmiths in Flintswood, Ostrava had an early fascination with weaponry. He even showed early interest in joining the military, like his father before him. Being fascinated in weaponry and combat at such an early age, Ostrava begged his father to teach him all he knew. Ostrava was not only interested in combat, but also knowledge. His mother was Oserian, and devout follower of the way of five. She would often try to teach her children about the way of five. But Ostrava was not particularly interested in following all of them. But he did take the teachings of Hedren very close to his heart. Perhaps that is what lead him so far in his military career. Perhaps because of his mother being oserian, he was also deeply interested in finding out as much as he could about his Oserian ancestors. By chance, Ostrava met a traveler from Korsia, who offered to tell him about his many travels. This interaction fueled Ostravas lust for knowledge as he started taking interest in researching about the many different cultures of Esna. .
Ostrava had one friend that he had known for a very long time. Fenrir was his name, a large gray wolf who would follow his Master wherever he went. Even occasionally into battle. And battle was something that Ostrava was used to from his time in the military. But he is not one to brag, Ostrava rarely tells about his battles. But if persuaded with a large horn of mead, he might just tell a tale or two. He is a mead lover after all. But there is one battle that he never speaks about, no matter how much mead he is offered. That being the battle that costed him his father's life. It was after this battle that Ostrava officially resigned from the military.
One day, His mother fell mortally ill, and the mere thought of losing his mother with the death of his father still fresh in his mind, he could not stay idly by and watch his mother die in front of him. Therefore he set out, leaving his mother in the hands of his younger brother, Alvin. His journey would take him far and wide, in search of some way to cure his mother's decease. With his gray wolf by his side. And under the watch of Hedren - the spirit of honor. He knew that he could not fail in his quest.
Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.
Question 1
You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...
- Run to the aid of the woman, asking if there is anyway I can help. I know that I probably won't be able to fight the hooded man in my current condition, so I prioritize helping the woman. thinking that if I was the one wounded like this, I'd want someone to help me. Maybe the woman reminded me of my own mother, But a part of me can't bare the thought of just letting someone bleed out in an alleyway somewhere.
Question 2
You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?
- I check around to see if there's someone I can talk to. Maybe a fellow northerner. If I am unable to find someone, I check out some of the shopping stalls to see if there's anything interesting that I can buy. After that, I try to find a corner somewhere where I can rest.
Question 4
In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…
- take pity on the soldier, knowing the feelings of loss he must be going through. I offer to help the soldier, he's most likely harmless, and probably too busy mourning his dead friend to even think about grabbing his weapon. I still proceed with caution however, knowing that it could very well be a trap. But ultimately decide to help the soldier the best I can.
The End!
