Name:

Can your character read and write?:

  • Yes

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

Karl was born into a small family of lumberjacks within a village in the Flintswood jarldom. From a young age Karl would take interest in his family's profession. He would often go out with his father and uncles and attend the work watching and learning their methods. Along these outings Karl would become close with his uncle Svend, an adamant worshipper of the one true god and its nine edicts. Svend had learnt of the religion through an oserian mercenary, and told Karl of the wonders of the southern realms. He would learn the traditions of the northmen from his father while learning of the ideals of the one true god from his uncle, even learning the ability to read and write. Karl would grow to have a respect for both cultures, attempting to introduce both into his ideals in order to become a better man.

This mentality would change when his uncle Svend was put to a trial of smori. The clan seer would accuse his uncle of overhunting when his uncle was merely trying to provide for those who were unable to have a good catch themselves. The result ended in the exile of his uncle, an insult to Karl which he believed the judgement to be breaking both the nine edicts of the one god and the lessons of the spirits. Following this event Karl would turn firmly to belief in the one true god praying for a vengeance against those who had wronged his uncle. He believed began to romanticize oserian culture, and secretly wished for Flintswood to fall into the grip of the oserians.

In the end Karl would believe his prayers to be answered with the blizzard wiping out many northmen. Karl believed he was seeing the wrath of the one true god.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

  • Karl would run over to the woman collapsed on the ground, taking of his cloak as he came over. Giving a smile to attempt to reassure the woman he would begin talking to her in a sweet voice, “Everything will be alright.” Wrapping his cloak around the wound Karl would attempt to apply pressure to stop the bleeding. It was true that Karl knew little of how to treat wounds properly, but at least he could give the innocent woman peace of mind in her critical condition.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

  • Karl would speak to the shopkeepers, attempting to barter with his own wares to make a small profit. As much as he sympathized with the refugees around him he had a job to do, this wasn’t his home. He would ask the shopkeepers about the situation trying to figure out why the traffic was so high in the city and if the possible value trading here was worth staying.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

  • Karl would give a smile to the woman, “Well all of us have an unpleasant stomach every now and then don’t we.” After paying for the meal he would take a look at the food, unappealing as this village. He would quickly gulp it down before attempting to go to sleep. It tasted horrible, however he needed food and didn’t have too much money with him. He knew his stomach would be uneasy for the night, but would attempt to settle down and sleep anyway.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

  • It was pitiful to see the men in such a state. He would take his dirk from his side and quickly slide it down to end the man's life, a mercy. In the aftermath of a battle he would have taken the man prisoner. However, as it standed the man would be rescued by the enemy. Attempting to get back in line with his own allies Karl would attempt to steel himself for the remaining battle. War wasn’t pretty, but he wasn’t ready for his life to end yet.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

  • Knowing his chances within the village to be of little Karl would attempt to look for somewhere he could take shelter without having to interact with the northern residences. If able to find a barn or stable of some sort Karl would attempt to hack in through the wood. If finding animals he would butcher one to help satisfy his hunger, then hunker down and attempt to wait out the storm.

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

I cant seem to find an attached skin but I can see from this application there is no need to worry.

This is a top tier application, certainly a very well developed and well thought out character who fits the server lore perfectly.

Very well done!

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
