Yes. ( Gmod, NWN2, etc.)

Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

Playing the role of a character within a scenario.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

Abusive use of roleplay mechanics to force an outcome on an opponent.
A powergamer takes advantage of the good-will and open-endedness of multiplayer roleplay to force the outcome they desire.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

Using information obtained out-of-character to influence your in-character roleplay.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

A character with no flaws, that is infallible. This means in an encounter with another player, 'powergaming' is inherent on their part.
Sometimes this is an unintentional projection by the Mary-Sue player. It is a power fantasy on their part, as they have created an invulnerable character for themselves.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

Out of character. It is used for talking about things not relating to roleplay.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Can your character read and write?:

Story & Biography

Hrodebert is the son of Ælfweard, a rural farmer outside the town of Flintswood. His ancestors come from the northern region, and his family has kept secluded for multiple generations in the wilderness of the Flintswood forest. His family have historically followed the way of the five, and Hrodebert himself is particularly a devout subject for Feynir and Hedren.

Upon his father's passing Hrodebert inherited the lands from his father. He watches over the homestead and his family's standing stones, tending to his wheat harvest and caring for his cattle. Being so secluded from extended civilization, Hrodebert is well-versed in the olden teachings of Northern paganism, and speaks in archaic dialect.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Cautiously approach the woman to check her condition. If she can not respond, I will seek a guard to assist her. I would tell the guard what I have seen, and attempt to describe the thief. I would not take any further personal action because my character is a simple farmer.

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is
filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

I leave the camp and wander the wilderness for a spot to camp / shelter temporarily. My character is used to rural settings and would be alarmed and disgusted by the crowded and ramshackle nature of the refugee camp. He would prefer staking out a spot for himself and waiting for the city to open.

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Turn it down in a disdained fashion. As a farmer raised mostly on woodland creatures and crops, Hrodebert would likely not take pleasantly to the sight and smell of a swamp creature.

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

Reveal your upper body from behind your shield, and stab the enemy soldier with your spear. Examine the cloth taken from the deceased soldier. Hrodebert would take this cloth if it was a banner, to display it to his allies back at camp.

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Approach a local house and ask them if you can wait out the storm in their home. As a speaker of the native dialect, they may show Hrodebert sympathy.

You’re almost there! Your application is pending.

There are only a few things to change for a final decision.

Make the following edits to your application:

1. Your powergaming touches on multiplayer roleplay perfectly, but lacks the definition in the general concept.

2. Your mary sue definition is short and doesn't go into the social aspects of a mary sue.

3. Your answers to the questions are all very shot. Please expand upon these. You can look to other players for inspiration, or imagine your in a multiplayer roleplaying scenario.

Once that is done, make a comment affirming you have made these changes and your application will be reviewed again as soon as possible.

Good luck!

Congratulations! Your application has been approved.

Your answers were still a little short, but your bio made good use of the lore, and you did change your definitions.

You will now be whitelisted on the server.

Make sure to take some last peeks at relevant information and guides.

You can use ToB’s Discord for communication and questions! You will find me and other whitelisters there too, ready to teach you the ropes.
