Do you agree with the server rules?

-Yes. No problem here.

How did you hear about Tale of Banners?

-Recommendation by a friend.

Do you have any previous roleplay experience?
(Please give examples, no experience is acceptable)

-5+ years of TTRPG games, mostly D&D 5e. Secondarily, Call of Cthulhu 7E as of recent, played almost for a year. Multiple Minecraft roleplay servers.

Additional Information: (If any)
Section 2/4 - Terms & Definitions
Please answer these definitions using your own words, the definitions may be researched however not plagiarized (copy-pasted).

What do you define as roleplaying?

-Roleplaying is the act of going in to the "role" of another character. It is changing your mindset to interact with your environment and the people in it to get potentially interesting results.

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:

-"Powergaming" is a term used in many roleplaying games, used to describe when a player prioritizes having "power" over roleplay or other aspects of the game, often spoiling the fun of others.
This tends to be accomplished by writing the character as very powerful physically, but in systems with skills or dedicated mechanics, this can happen from intentionally optimal choices. Of
Of course, power imbalance can be written well, and with proper coordination and cooperation between roleplayers, it can be executed properly and add to the story.

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:

-Metagaming is when a player uses knowledge that their character explicitly does not know to give them an advantage in certain situations.

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?

-A Mary-Sue (Or alternatively, "Gary-Sue") is a term generally given to characters seen as "self-inserts." As self-inserts, whether intentional or not, the writer tends to be reluctant to give them traits seen as "negative," which starves the character of interesting traits, making them read as bland.

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?

"OOC" means "Out of Character." It's used for discussing things as yourself, instead of your character, to distuingish between roleplay conversations and real life conversation.

Section 3/4 - Character Creation
Here you will create an example character that could exist in the server’s history and lore.

Provide us with an in-game screenshot of your character’s skin.

Name: Horas Wighte

Age: 56

Culture: Oserian

Can your character read and write?: Yes.

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

(Please note although the character you apply with can commit illegal or immoral acts you cannot do these things on the server without an Intrigue application. This can be applied for once you are whitelisted.) Found here: (Intrigue Application) (Intrigue Application)

(You are also able to apply with a noble but keep in mind you cannot play a noble character on the server unless you join an accepted noble house or apply for one.) Found here: (Noble Houses) (Noble Houses)

950 AT
Horas is born in the Duchy of Avendale.
957 AT
Began recieving education from a notable teacher of the area.
966 AT
At the age of 16, Horas wrote his first book.
970 AT
Age 20, and Horas has written not only 2 more books, but has had the third one picked up and published. This was a great success. The book was an encyclopaedic tome of Avendale culture, superstitions, sayings and idioms, by the name of "Interests of Avendale."
980 AT
Horas gets his newest book published, "The Grand Book of Faces." It shows illustrations of face shapes and their differences between various groups of people, including the Drahl, Oserians, Northerners, and Korsians, with some speculation on why this is. This book faced various criticisms for certain inaccuracies in Drahl & Korsian information, as well as the odd ramblings in certain sections of the book dedicated to some sort of event only described as, "The Great and Terrible Gloaming."
986 AT
This was the year that Horas was put on trial, for an especially controversial book, known as "The Lie of Domain," a book criticizing the various Duchys, and their possible scandals, across Oseria. Notably, this book paradoxically contained accusations of inbreeding among the dukes and duchesses, as well as mixing with the blood of lower social classes. Additionally, it was the second book of his published to mention "The Great and Terrible Gloaming," still described cryptically. Put on trial, Horas was eventually exiled from every Duchy in the North of Oseria for his book.
987 AT
Horas sought out refuge in the South of Oseria, but his name was somewhat known even there as an author. Every now and then, he faced harassment or mockery for his publishings. Due to his begrimed reputation, he saw little luck on relying on others to publish his books.
999 AT
This was the year of the "attempted assassination" that Horas feared. One warm summer afternoon, he was eating a meal of fish stew. A few minutes after he had eaten the meal, he felt a faint ache in his stomach. This persisted for a few hours. This is his "irrefutable proof" that assassins are after him.
1005 AT
Horas makes the journey to the North, past the North of Oseria, as almost a sort of "fresh start." Perhaps his writing career will be able to endure in the bitter chill of The North?

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewellery on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

-"By the One! This looks like a job for... the local militia! I'm sure they'll have this cleared up in no time." Horas attempts to escort the injured lady into the indoors of the tavern, so that she does not die of "Coldskin," and then calls over the militia, like a real hero!

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

-(Agh, disgusting! I can just smell the Drahl poisons from here!) "Away from me, hag! I will be having none of your hexxed herb!" Horas attempts to make distance between himself and the suspicious old crone, backing off until she is out of sight. Perhaps it is time to search for a more trustworthy merchant. Horas has heard that those herbs that the Drahl consume, once eaten, change one forever...

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

-...Put down this wretched creature! (Of course, it will not easy, but it is for their own good, surely. As well as the good of grand Oseria! Horas hesitates, nearly two meters away from the soldier. There's something stopping him from getting any closer, a sort of half-light in his mind, keeping him in place. A hesitation. Horas has not killed before, and never been a soldier. This intent of violence from him was empty. He stands there for nearly a minute, and then turns back, making a retreat; the soldier will live to despair another day.
