Roleplaying is playing a person or character in a fictional element, bringing a story to life, via words, actions and such.
-

Describe the term ‘powergaming’ in your own words:
Powergaming is things like doing a 'double backflip' or saying that you instakilled someones character, which plain doesn't make sense. It isn't realistic, unfun and essentially playing God.
-

Describe the term ‘metagaming’ in your own words:
Metagaming is taking information you know oocly into rp, and/or information you know from another character of yours onto a completely different one that wouldn't it.
-

What is a "Mary-Sue" character?
A mary sue character is the boring, perfect character, with no flaws or weaknesses and no depth to them.
-

What does the abbreviation ‘OOC’ mean & when should this be used?
Out of character. It should be used when not in rp, asking questions, things such as that.

Story & Biography (please go into detail, we recommend two paragraphs but expect at least one. Please outline character history, personality traits and the things that make your character unique. Have fun with this section!)

Karyme was born into the lower-class of citizenship, her parents having had her out of a business deal. Originally, her father came from a family of merchants, mainly dealing in bolts of fabric made within The Emirate of Kharman, along with the occasional route for spices. Her mother was a Northerner prostitute, Karymes father having met her along his travels and woo'd her with his riches. Naiyla, her mother, was a schemer. She saw a chance when she had one, pretending to be pregnant to keep within the sights of Karymes father, Amal. Despite her pretending, she come to learn later on that she was in fact pregnant and scheme not quite going to plan, left the girl with her father when she was born, disappearing into the night to continue her life as a prostitute.
Karyme was raised well enough, in comparison to the strict hierarchy of the Sultanate, though it was still clear in her fathers actions that she was unwanted. He didn't have the time to care for a child and from a young age, sent her off on many errands and chores, affording her the meager skills she has today. Karyme is a scientific woman, while her father has always been more religious, leaving a emptier void between the two.
With the cutthroat economy of the Korsians, as she grew older, her father slowly fell from the meager power he had, leaving him in debt and without lands, money or otherwise to call his own. There was no lost love between the duo and when her father had tried to sell her into slavery to pay off his debts, she left with the clothes on her back and what meager belongings she managed to gather to leave the brutal Deserts behind, making a new life for herself in this world.

Section 4/4 - Open-ended questions
Please answer at least three of the questions to show how your character would interact with the world. Delete the spares (if applicable). Please include at least one paragraph for each question you answer.

Question 1

You stumble outside into the open air after some heavy drinking in an Oserian tavern. Just before you're about to pass an alleyway, a hooded man rushes out of it and runs for it - seemingly, he has both a blade and some jewelry on him. You take a quick peek in the alleyway to see a feminine figure collapsed on the ground, holding her hands over a bleeding wound in her torso. The thief is about to escape and the woman seems in critical condition. You...

Karyme froze a moment, hand raising into the air as if to stop the man, a jolt of terror coming over the young girl, before rushing over to the woman in the alleyway. She knelt beside her, worry clear on her face and pressing her hands over the woman's torso for a firmer hold, promising her with a strong accent. "You'll be fine, you'll be fine.." She muttered out, shaking her head and glancing around her for help, at seeing none, she'd begin to shout, hoping to get someones attention.
-

Question 2

You are on your way to the Korsian city of Telth to sell some wares. Upon reaching the front gates you are stopped by the guard. They deny you entry for the time being as the traffic into the city is too high. You are effectively forced to wait in the refugee camp located between the two gates for the time being. The camp is filled with shopping stalls and refugees sleeping on the floor. How do you spend your time in the camp?

Karyme keeps her head on a swivel, and any valuables tucked neatly away and out of sight as she moved about, not stopping long enough for anyone to get close to her and not speaking with anyone. She is careful to dodge out of peoples way if they're moving about, head low so as to not draw attention to herself, pacing but her rounds always bringing her back towards the entrance, waiting for the foot traffic to let up.
-

Question 3

You've gotten lost and wandered awhile into Drahl lands, eventually finding yourself in Crookmire Swamp, where you decide to settle for the night. Finding a meal to buy for the evening takes some effort, but you do come across an old crone in ragged clothing, who offers to sell you some sea-looking food. She doesn't ask much, but warns you that eating it is 'unpleasant' to outsiders. You...

Karyme peered down at the woman, anxious as she debated her offer, before shaking her head, replying in a strong accent. "No, miss, I am good. Thank you." Her head dipped forward, rushing off before she could be stopped. Who knows what that seafood could have done? Karyme settled down for the night, not sleeping but resting where she could, jumping at every shadow or bit of noise that sounds, weary of the swamps.
-

Question 4

In the midst of battle, you find yourself approaching a wounded enemy soldier. The soldier is on the floor, clearly in terror as they cradle one of the dead. Enemy forces begin to advance in the distance and you know you have to act fast. The soldier then grasps at a cloth and removes it from the dead soldiers pocket. They continue to cry, and starts calling the dead soldier's name in despair. Then the soldier glances up to see you - with your weapon up - but does not care of your approach, continuing to cradle the dead soldier. You…

Karyme knew this was a cutthroat world but she was never one to subscribe to those beliefs, terror straightening her spine and fingers clenching her weapon tighter against her. She left the soldiers alone, giving them mercy where they may not give her any but didn't turn her back to them, continuing off and away at a fast pace, nearly running to get away from the chaos of the situation and hoping she didn't make a grave mistake.

-

Question 5

You have wandered across a seemingly endless tundra for what have felt like days. A raging snowstorm makes you unable to see more than a few metres ahead. Being almost out of resources, you are delighted to find out that you have stumbled your way to a village. Upon closer inspection you find out it's a Northern village, and the residents are not very friendly towards strangers. What do you do in this dire situation?

Karyme offers what meager skills she has to those there, anything to let her weather out the snowstorm, willing to work for whatever may be offered, if at all. She'd have a nervous demeanor but warm smile, working swiftly if given anything to do, head kept down and otherwise keeping to herself. She'd offer no harm or no trouble, simply wishing for a place to stay if able. Come night, she'd fall asleep if allowed and work early the next morning, to show them it wasn't a waste to spend any time on her. She'd do this the duration of the snowstorm and stay a day afterwards, offering extra assistance in thanks, if all goes according to plan.

Thank you so much! Use it as an example if you'd like, I was panicking a bit as I read it over again and realized I spelled her name wrong in one part but good to know you like it. ^.^
